Brian Drummond Saban-era Vegeta

Post by djkalteraphine » Fri Jul 11, 2008 7:49 pm

I'm currently compiling a list for a project of mine, and I figured I'd ask you dudes and dudettes for some help! So - What do you think are the "Best" Saban Vegeta lines. Excluding "Over Nine-Thousand", of course. These can be comical or serious, doesn't matter. Just has to be Brian Drummond. Feel free to post YouTube clips too. I look forward to your response!

Around 1:35 to the end.

Ignore someone's apparent incompetence with video encoding, of course :).

That's kinda weird VegettoEX came up with the same one as me, feel free to delete my first post in this thread, if you want.

I'd have to agree with the "You won't escape my wrath" stuff. Drummond played a really good pissed off Vegeta.

I like the line Vegeta says when he's about to blow up Planet Arlia in Saban ep. 7. It's something like "Being the hero is overrated" or something. Sorry I don't have the episode. :?

What about the obligatory "your father was a brilliant scientist" line?

Because that is without a doubt one of the top two worst Saban Vegeta lines and we're listing the best ones.

He said "comical". What, you didn't find that comical?

Your right, it is a pretty comical line once you get over the fact that it is a horribly inaccurate dub line. Good one! :)

Yeah. The one I picked, personally, was over the same vein. "Radical weaponry on rygal seven". So, the "so retarded they're hilarious" works just as well as, "ohmahgawddrummondrawkz" ones. :D

I really liked that Vegeta, It's too bad the script was so damn bad and inaccurate at times. That whole "YOU WON'T ESCAPE MY WRATH" bit is just great.

That line was the single greatest piece of acting in dub history. He gave the line an actual sense of "Holy hell, I'm gonna go ape shit on you".

I know this is just a tad off topic, but I couldn't pass up putting it in here.

Those are some awesome comparisons. I have to admit, Brian Drummond wins the "Over 9,000!!!" competition. :)

Brian Drummond is clearly the better actor, the only thing that would make a case for Sabat is that once Vegeta became a good guy the Drummond voice would be a little too evil sounding for a hero (or anti-hero  ).

The YouTube Sabat/Drummond Comparison Video wrote:Brian you never seize to amaze me
Seriously?

No, really... seriously?

Another one of my favorite lines was, "What a major-league arm I've got!" (after tossing and hiding the DBs from breaking out of Freeza's ship).
