What game will follow Sparking! Zero?
What game will follow Sparking! Zero?
I know everyone's rolling their eyes at this post because Zero hasn't even released yet, but with Sparking! Zero just less than 2 weeks away from releasing (counting the non-early release), I got to thinking. How do you top Tenkaichi 4??? I saw on another thread, someone said Bandai filed a trademark for "Budokai 4". Assuming this wasn't just for Tenkaichi 4, I would LOVE a Budokai 4. I mean, look at how much they've modernized the Sparking/Tenkaichi series with Zero. I would love to FINALLY see a return to a 2D fighting game from Dragon Ball that ISN'T FighterZ. Less competitive and easy-to-play, that's all I want.
Maybe even Xenoverse 3 finally, even though Xenoverse 2's DLC is basically already Xenoverse 3. As far as I know, there's never been a racing game for Dragon Ball. Not that we really need one. And sure we had a RPG (sort of) with Kakarot, but I want something more expansive than that. Kakarot was basically a 3D fighter with RPG elements, not a true RPG. I want a true action RPG or turn-based RPG for Dragon Ball that's not just a handheld game. And my dream game would be a remake of Dragon Ball Online (maybe called Dragon Ball Future, Dragon Ball Quest, or Dragon Ball Odyssey?) for next-gen consoles that maintains its story, but isn't just an MMO and is something more akin to Final Fantasy 7 Remake in gameplay mixed with Dragon Quest for its tone. Especially with Toriyama gone, Online is essentially his vision for the far future of Dragon Ball. It deserves a remastered/remade re-release that is more accessible to players and fans. Not just an Online remastered by fans that most people don't even know about.
Thoughts for what comes next?

A true turn-based Dragon Ball RPG game similar to the Paper Mario games (with a story that follows through DB, Z, GT, Super, and Daima) would follow Sparking Zero.
Also, isn't DBZ Infinite World technically Budokai 4?

Budokai 4 would be the dream, but I guess it will be Xenoverse 3.
I think we are still far away from a DBFZ2

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Re: What game will follow Sparking! Zero?
I think a really logical and welcome entry would be a second Super Dragon Ball Heroes home port that, like Ultimate Mission X, collects all of that era's material together into one comprehensive package. It would be a great send-off to the Heroes era (before we transition to Divers), and it wouldn't cannibalize any fighting game momentum between the new Sparking! ZERO and the corpse of Xenoverse 2 still being dragged along.
We know Kakarot is also going to have some continued support, so as to spread the genres around, a new (final?) Heroes entry seems like a really great choice.
I'll also take that kart racer we saw in the manga.

Re: What game will follow Sparking! Zero?
I can't think of anything that I'd care about after Sparking Zero. If anything, I feel like things like XV3 & FighterZ 2 would be more likely on PS6 and Next Xbox at this point. No reason to use up everything at the moment.

Re: What game will follow Sparking! Zero?
Xenoverse 3 makes the most sense.
It seems that CC2 will keep releasing DLC for Kakarot - a DBS season pass it looks like.
FighterZ2 seems unlikely because the current relationship between ASW & Bandai.
Sparking Zero will get DLC for many years like Xenoverse 2.
Xenoverse 2 can't last forever, I could see Xenoverse 3 getting announced a little after this Future Saga DLC Pack ends, probably 6 months - 1 year after? That will be awhile from now so...
A spinoff game like Breakers will release late 2025 or early 2026 followed by Xenoverse 3.

A revamp of the Budokai series, that’s really the only other game they could do that would rival the Hype of SZ.

Sparking Zero 2 with DLC's characters in the vanilla game.

FighterZ2 is probably the next game that I could see happening. Probably anywhere between 2026-2030.

Daima seems like it is ripe of an a traditional JRPG based off it. I think that would be a good move since the other games like XV2, Sparking Zero, etc. all seem to be continuing with DLC support.

Would be cool if Square Enix did a JRPG based on Daima.Makaioshin wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 10:08 pm Daima seems like it is ripe of an a traditional JRPG based off it. I think that would be a good move since the other games like XV2, Sparking Zero, etc. all seem to be continuing with DLC support.

No idea, but It's surely going to be released in 2026, if they don't plan on releasing another console game in 2025.
I simply wouldn't want to imagine my life without Dragon Ball, thank you Akira Toriyama (1955-2024), you are now immortal ~☆

I wouldn't be surprised if BN had Dimps working on a new Budokai title while spike was working on Sparking Zero.

I'd be down for a new Budokai or a Burst Limit 2

Maybe a Daima-game?

Maybe they'll jump right into Sparking Zero 2?

Re: What game will follow Sparking! Zero?
I doubt it, I think this game could have DLC for years like Xenoverse 2.
If this was the PS2 era I think they would followup with a sequel but we live in an era of Updates & DLCs.
I think Xenoverse 3 is more likely because it would benefit from a Sequel: characters that wouldn't sell via DLC (chaiotzu, cui), more races, story that begins at OG DB with your created character being a kid or teen.
The next Sparking I think will come out in the early 2030s for PS6 and the next Xbox. They can milk the hell out of this game's DLC.
Re: What game will follow Sparking! Zero?
Since Sparking Zero is technically the continuation of a former series, I expect the next game to be something new. No FighterZ 2, Xenoverse 3 or even another revival with a Budokai 4.
Something different but at the same time safe like Kakarot or a curve ball like the The Breakers.
Whatever it is, it will be built with DLC in mind.

I don’t know if a Budokai revival is particularly likely. It seems to me like Dimps moved on from the Budokai fighting system, and I don’t see what appeal it would have in a post-FighterZ world.

Re: What game will follow Sparking! Zero?
We get a game once every two years. So it would make sense that the next game will be out in 2026. The days of a yearly DB game are long over.Rafa Fast wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 1:57 am No idea, but It's surely going to be released in 2026, if they don't plan on releasing another console game in 2025.
