I hope that if an anime is announced it has more than 50 episodes.

Aah, if I had to guess: we're getting a new film to be released either at the end of 2026 for the anime's anniversary or the Dragon Ball Super comic is going to return to serialization.

I assume it'd just going to be a movie, though.

If they want to properly milk Dragon Ball as much as they can they should adapt the remaining arcs as 24 episodes seasons (maybe Super Hero too as an excuse to see it in traditional 2D adding the high school prologue and epilogue)

If they're really milking it, they would do a remake of Broli, then Moro, then Granola and Super Hero. I'm not sure Iyoku wants that, since it might be easier to promote and sell a film, which will have theatrical profits and he can micromanage the production staff easier.

I'm hoping for Daima Season 2 personally. I love the stories featuring demons or occult (Piccolo Daimao, Garlic Jr, etc), and I think Dragon Ball lost sight of these mystical adventures in favor of science fiction and aliens. Even Buu - djinn inspired, felt more an alien that was going to terrorize space when he was done with Earth than a mythic story.

What I what: DBS anime and manga return
What we gonna get: A new movie most likely (which is okay)
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

A new movie would be good!

I wonder if it would be set after the End of Z finally? Or related to Daima at all?

While I think that this could easily be a nothingburger announcement of "Hey we're gonna make more Dragonball animation! Stay tuned!" The fact that they actually have the voice of Goku there makes me hope it will be an actual new thing.

More Super anime? More Daima? A movie relating to one of those two series? A whole new thing entirely?

If it is a new thing and not just an adaptation of the Super manga, I wonder how much influence Toriyama will have on it. Like did he have sketches and journals laying around for them to pick through? Maybe he and Toyble had conversations about ideas he was interested in doing?

This sounds wishful thinking, but I hope they have surprise announcement of classic series (original, Z, and GT) releasing on Blu-ray, that is not SDBD nor upscale, but properly remastered from films.
Next year (2026) is 40th anniversary of original series, so it would be perfect opportunity.

I can guarantee, pre-order for that would be insane, where first batch would sold out in minutes.

We really deserve a proper Blu-ray release with beautiful restoration of one of the most important and influential anime ever made in history.
Even if it cost $700~$1000, it would be the most insane home video release of anime.

...please let it happen Toei.

Nozawa will turn 90 next year. If they still plan to do the Super anime with her — or at least start the first part of the sequel with her — then, using simple logic, you'd have to conclude that they can't afford to wait beyond next year.

That aside, would they really put Nozawa through recording over 100 episodes of Super at her age? That’s a much bigger demand/stress on a 90-year-old voice actress than a movie or a short anime would be.

Daima didn’t feel like a complete story either — there are too many continuity gaps. If there really are two animated projects in the works, I’d currently bet on a sequel to Daima (either as TV episodes or a more limited set of OVAs), and a new Super movie — one that would probably take place after the manga started its hiatus.

It may be a more sensible decision at this point to fully adapt Super (if it ever happens) once Nozawa has passed the torch to a younger voice actor.

I imagine that they're really going to wait until she's too ill to talk anymore for future performances to be handled by a different actor. If the production was smart, they'd spend more time on the production so that Nozawa could simply record her dialogue on multiple days, instead of just one per episode.

But again, who knows what they'll do.

I think it depends on if they're trying to have it work alongside Super. Cause I don't remember Daima really having any plotholes like on its own when you ignore the other series. It does feel set up for a sequel with the whole Tertian Oculus at the end.

Now if they are trying to link it to Super then yeah there's a lot of things they have to tie up in writing, like I guess Goku was just lying to Beerus when he said SS3 was his final form, I guess Rymus is Zeno's dad, things of that nature. But then there's the Kibitokai thing which I can't think of a way to write around, that shit just doesn't match up.

I think a Daima 2 could be fun, see what King Kuu is up to. Explore more of the Namek lore. SS4 Vegeta, etc.

As for Nozawa's age, I wonder what they're thinking when it comes to that. Just keep using her as Goku until she physically can't anymore? Do they have a replacement in mind already? She sounded alright in Daima. If she can still play Goku and still wants to do it I think I'd still like to hear her voice until it gets noticeably worse. But perhaps she is announcing she is retiring. I do agree that with the cast getting older it makes sense to move away from the 52 episodes a year model. Plus when they take more time making it the animation turns out better too. I would prefer we get more stuff that looks like the Broly movie or Daima, really high quality 2D animation with minimal CG and no AI.

I would bet they have replacements for all the major actors already. The franchise simply can't be put on hold when an actor dies and for example Vegeta or Goku can't be voiced. It has become too big to depend on a single person.

Heck, the Daima chibi cast already did an amazing job.

If they make a new series I am sure that they will try their best to get Nozawa to voice Goku but if she can't for whatever reason, she'll probably be replaced mid-show, like Kaio. I also believe Bulma got replaces fairly smoothly.

It's obviously a nothingburger like blu-ray re-releases of the old series, isn't it?... BUT SHE'S GOT A NEW HAT!
Or perhaps a new set of wafer cards. But with the 40th anniversary stamp on them!

We just don't live in the timeline where we get nice things like the manga arcs being animated or the continuation of the manga.

I would absolutely have loved a properly re scanned and remaster Blu ray release of the old series.

I dunno... Maybe. It's just I know the colors would be fucking green tinted and I'm just gonna be content with SoM's CC when that's out. And fuck, what if Toei censors the series like the BD of the movies?

I certainly like to watch anime in HD over SD, especilly if properly re scanned. And what so if they mess up colors? Fans can fix that.

Another movie is probably the most likely outcome.

Looking at when the last four movies were released, we're probably getting the next one no later than next year.

2013 : Battle of Gods
2015 : Resurrection F
2018 : Broly
2022 : Super Hero
2026 : New Movie?

I'd be pleasantly surprised if it was a remake of the original anime with Daima level animation though.

They'll probably save a new animated adaption of the original comic for 2029, 2031 or 2034, if I had to guess.
