Vegeta being afraid and going out of his way to not upset Beerus already accomplishes that; there was no need to take things as far is they did with him cooking and dancing. Vegeta losing his mind over Bulma getting hit also pushes that idea, so you can show character development without committing character assassination.

And so this is the answer: an "enhanced" version of Super that's really more about getting rid of most of the things that specific kind of fan do not like.
I think the reason that Daima didn't take off had more to do with timing, rather than the type of show it was. Super was in the middle of its story, but instead of continuing it, they jump back in time and tell a completely different story that had nothing to do with Super. I think a world where Daima comes out after all of Super is animated, the reception would be far better.

They better remaster the Future Trunks saga too because I want to see all the goofy filler removed and an even more serious tone. This remaster looks great.
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

There was nothing "awful" about how the colors were in the original series. The problem is that DBS Beerus had the desaturated color filter from day one. This was basically a continuation of that, even more accentuated in some sequences.

Yeah this one feels weird. Too much cuts, weird pacing, and excessively desaturated colors.
I'm annoyed by reaction shots used for padding, but sometimes we actually need those! Like others said, we don't get anybody questioning a thing. They reduced the birthday party to a soulless silent montage, and the desaturation doesn't help.
They took too much out without making it flow properly, and I don't get why, of all things, they kept Oolong playing RPS against Beerus. I don't remember the original much but maybe they couldn't cut it out because of inconsistencies later down the line?
And yeah still not addressing the Pilaf gang is so irritating. Like c'mon it shouldn't have been an issue years ago, yet they still don't correct it!

During the "My Bulma!" moment, a part of me still hoped for SSJ3. I know Daima isn't canon, but it would've been cool. Then again, I don't remember a lot of the original Super, so I don't know if they could've slipped in SSJ3 without having inconsistencies later on. And seeing how this episode turned out, I don't know why I even hoped for something like that.

It's a great remaster indeed! Why are the guys on a ship? Whose party is it? Why does Vegeta get angry over an accidental elbow? Why are there three kids who look like Pilaf, Mai, and Shu? Why isn't anyone from the original team speaking?

I just love when remakes/remasters do that.
"Go watch the original and you'll understand then!"

Or you could just stick to the original, dismiss the adaptation, and you won't miss anything to begin with, and you'll waste less time.
You have failed as an adaptation if you make watching the source material a required watch.

I agree. A remaster should be a refresh—not just visually, but narratively as well.
Here, instead of adding or fixing things, they’re taking things away.

Imagine being someone experiencing Super for the first time with Super Beerus—you’d end up with three episodes where you wouldn’t understand a thing about what’s happening, except for the cliché that so many criticize in Dragon Ball: “A strong guy shows up, and other strong guys have to become even stronger than him to beat him.”

Vegeta observing Beerus in fear was pointless narratively because Beerus doesn't lose his shit until Buu annoyingly doesn't share the Pudding which made Beerus look like a normal person and less of a threat. The comedic Bingo moment or the Cooking served a purpose as Beerus was about to lose his temper for real because of Gohan in the movie or Kuririn in the Anime until Vegeta intervened to calm him. Beerus being more chill took away the threat.

This was bad, really bad. Narratively, this is worse than insanse. Suddenly, fucking Oolong of all people is still part of the story, his bit is the cliffhanger goddamn it! That could've been removed like the rest (bingo; the pregnancy; the Pilaf gang... ) and jump straight to Goku stopping Beerus, if the idea is to cut everything shorter and go to the point.

It's like an unintentional retelling of the arc from Vegeta's POV, without doing what Vegeta actually did in the movie or the anime.

I did like how Beerus seemed much stronger now, he hardly even realized he was defeating people left and right. But shit, the editing of this episode was so bad. Can't believe an episode abridged this way was aired!

Don't forget about all the amazing visual changes when it comes to this episode, like the filter being so dark and seriouss™ it makes certain scenes look like flashbacks, said filter not even being consistent, as many scenes have normal bright shading, then suddenly, boom, darkness everywhere. Thousands of cuts so noticeable even a child would tell you something feels off, Bulma's scene of her shaking Beerus being completely off, as her movements don't match with her voice at all since they didn't bother to use new recordings even for scenes like this (same issue is also true when it comes to King Kai, this is something people had an issue with even in 2015 when the original was airing!) and amateurish animation and art mistakes, like Krillin missing his hand in a STILL FRAME in the first episode, or Gohan not looking directly at Oolong when talking to him. Image

I will admit, there are some things this "enhanced" version did better. The Goku vs Beerus fight is infinitely better here for example, but there are other, smaller elements even in this terrible episode, such as only Beerus hitting Mr. Satan instead of both him and Buu hitting him like in the original. But I expected something much better and professionally made, especially since they did have the time and budget this time around to come up with a good product.

The best part of the arc is over, and they've butchered it, now we're entering the part that even the movie did badly: the fighting.

Since they are so focused on the fighting side of the arc, let's see if they can improve the main dish.

I actually started laughing my ass off when the filter came on during the scene with Buu not giving Beerus the pudding. In its attempt to make an inherently comedic moment serious, it actually goes the complete opposite direction and goes right into unintentional comedy where they have the filter and serious, intense music, all while Beerus is ranting and raving about pudding. And I don't think the episode recognizes how "funny" this is because it still removes all of the wacky sound effects from the original and cuts as much as possible anything resembling a joke. And yet, they keep Beerus chastising Gotenks about fucking pudding. And again, I have to imagine that this is some of the stuff they had to keep in because it would have completely broken the episode or caused a lot more work that needed to be done if they scrapped all of that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that too. Why was it animated like that?

They'll replace Monaka with Gohan so that they can recreate the Super Saiyan 2 Gohan vs Cell scene again, somehow.

Man. Just the third episode and already too many balls were dropped.

Do we get the bingo dance or the cooking scene? Will they finally decide on one continuity?

HELL NO

We get NOTHING! So all the payoff with Vegeta's rage doesn't have the same weight. The others didn't fare better. They were just background extras until they were needed for the plot.

Man, the Vegeta wars over if it's good or not that they removed the Vegeta humiliation ritual things are getting heavy.
And it's not just the English fanbase by the way. Somehow the algo started giving me stuff in Japanese and Spanish too. It's kinda sad how ridiculously fractured the fanbase has become.

The focus is on the main story which is Goku vs. Beerus. You care about those questions because you've watched the 2013 movie and the 2015 anime, but for a new audience, it simply doesn't matter.

For me, someone who thinks the original Super is 9/10 and the only downsides are the inconsistent artwork and the filler, this is a great remaster.
