No additional Wii games being made/ported?

Post by VenomSymbiote » Wed Aug 20, 2008 7:56 am

There are DBZ Games for the Wii, but only the Sparking series. Why are the compaines trying to make more money by porting games, like "Final Budokai" and Burst Limit onto the Wii? People who only have the Wii and can't get another system are really missing out, not to mention that Atari and Namco Bandai are losing oppurtunities to make money.

Fighting games just don't translate to the Wii, they're made for traditional controllers. Doing movements from the show on a 2d fighter?
Also, if you liked Mortal Kombat on the Wii, god help you.
Financially? There is no demand for the Budokais to come out on Wii, so why bother?

First off, there is no game actually being titled "Final Budokai".

Even ignoring gameplay, just look at sales figures. The first week sales are what dictate a game's more-or-less success and longevity. "Sparking! METEOR" did ~204,000 on the PS2 its first week and hung on the charts for a little while longer. On the Wii? About 40,000 its first week, and an almost immediate drop off the charts after that.

It's the typical abysmal sales of third-party games on the Wii keeping even more away.

Yeah I guess that's true. Oh and yeah I know about there being no "Final Budokai". I forgot to put quotations, since that title is not even confirmed.

That's hardly a fair comparison though. It was a sequel to a franchise that originated on the PS2 released for both consoles simultaneously. There's no reason a Wii version should sell more, considering the lack of incentive for the fanbase to drop their PS2s and go get Wii versions.

"Typical abysmal sales of third-party games on the Wii"? That doesn't really exist.

The Tales of Symphonia spin-off for the Wii has just become the best selling spin-off of the entire Tales series, outselling even the non spin-off "Tales of" titles that the DS and X-Box 360 have received.

The only Wii titles that generally have underwhelming numbers are the old PS2 franchises that are still released on the PS2 (like a recent baseball game from Konami).

Anyway, Spike doesn't seem to be developing anything big currently, so, if there's a Wii DBZ title, it probably will come from them, not Dimps (they still haven't been confirmed to be the developers of Infinite World, but the presence of a capsule system and baseline ki heavily suggest this is based on their previous games), which still hasn't developed a single DBZ game for a Nintendo console.

Even the GC Budokais were ported by some group called "Pyramid", as shown in the credits, rather than Dimps itself, and, in the past, they chose to develop PSP games, rather than DS ones, even though the DS sells much more software (even for 3rd parties).

Yeah... it's called "Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World". As for the Wii fighting game ports, it'd be really hard to "fight" that fast, considering that Budokai 3/Burst Limit/Infinite World were/are more fast-paced than the Budokai Tenkaichi games. That's one of my guesses. Everyone else's make more sense. =/ Even Budokai 3 wasn't ported to GameCube... but it is possible that Infinite World could be ported to Wii, but it's a slim chance, I'll say.
