Can't Pronounces these words

Well, just as it said. I know it may sound weird to most of you but, I don't know how to say "Mirai" or "Doujinshi." Can someone help me out with this?

In Japanese, the "i" alone makes a long "ee" sound, so "Mirai" is pronounced "Meer-eye." "Doujinshi" is just how it looks, "Dough-jin-shee."

I've been out of the country for a while, so right now I'm using a computer at some net cafe thing in the building my uncle owns.

Mizugi's right about the pronounciations. I always thought, though, that mirai was pronounced "miraiah." Now I feel ashamed and inferior.

The thing with pronounciation is that those of us who make a mistake are usually doing so because we're reading the word like the way a native English speaker would and was brought up to. For example, I asume we've all known someone who mispronounced "Evangeleon" the first time they read the word.

Or "Moulin Rouge!"

"Mulan Rooz is the best movie ever!" Mulan is a damn Disney cartoon! It's pronunced "Moo-lehn Rooge" you dumbasses! Pronuncing it in english here is actually much CLOSER to what Hollywood spewed out.

No. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "Evangeleon" out loud. I hang in the wrong circles.

I admit I was one person who mispronounced it at first. Hey I saw the tapes and dvds in stores for several years before I actually saw any of the series. You know how with the grammer lessons you got as a kid, you might pronounce the "ge" as a "j" sound.

That really sucks. I've probably mentioned this before, but any Japanese word I learned before learning to properly pronounce Japanese words, my head can't correct. I often catch myself mispronouncing very common, simple words.

Of course, I wasn't quite pronouncing them the english way. Just, y'know, screwing up on "ge / j", for example. Like you said.
