That doesn't prove much because that could easily be diffferent frames. Just saying.

I once had a whole discussion on AIM how I "rigged" a season 3... video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ozHWtRlrlM
The guy kept saying the lines are not dissaperaing on his set. Turns out he was looking at the wrong scene, since DBZ re-uses the frames so often...

Post an uncompressed comparison, then we can decide.

Trust me, it doesn't disappear in the scene. I wouldn't have even bothered to take those caps if it did disappear.

I just broke down and bought Season 6. The last set I bought was season 1. I stopped after witnessing the widescreen difference, but now after reading some of this thread, my opinion changed. The Cell Games arc is definitely my favorite. I have the 276 cut dub episodes that I downloaded, but it'll be nice to have this arc in such high quality.

I'm glad someone really explained the situation with the original film, how it has rounded corners, and you can't have those black shaded areas.

When I was watching Awakening, episode 185, I noticed a difference in what the Ox King said to Chi-Chi. It sounded different than what I knew from my episodes, so I double checked and I was right. It was changed!

Seasion Six

Ox King: Hey! Your son Gohan is no longer a baby! Why, he's transcended Goku and now he's become an honorable Saiyan warrior! If you haven't figured it out by now, both your husband and your son are battling to save an entire planet. Without them, we have nothing!

Original dub:

Ox King: Hey! Your son Gohan is no longer a baby! Why, he's transcended Goku and he's become an honorable warrior. I know it's hard for you to accept, but both your husband and son are battling to save this entire planet. Without them, we're gone!

The old one made Goku/Gohan out to be a super hero from Earth. In the new one, however, the Saiyans seem to be separated from the Earthlings. They're made out to be detached from the Earthlings and its inhabitants, but in an indifferent manner. I don't know if that makes any real sense. I mean, Goku and Gohan defend the Earth, and not in a "This is my home!" sort of way. It's more of a "You're hurting innocent people" way.

It makes me think about what Goku said to Gohan right before the Kamehameha finished him, "Remember all the pain he's caused, the people he's hurt, now make that your power!" and what Goku says to Gohan when he's trying to power up against Dabura and Babidi in Magic Ball of Buu before Buu is released, "Just remember all the people you're fighting for and how much you care about them, and let that be your weapon."

Hey are we still getting the Dragonbox/Remastered video comparison. I've been dying to see another one. If the user (forgot his name) has the time and the will. Can you please make comparisons of every season? That would be great. Like FANTASTIC.

Thanks.

Now why would you want to do that and download Funimations Dragonball series dub, when it's good enough to buy on DVD and best of all it's fully uncut.

I could undertand if they only releaced an edited version where I suppose downloading would be acceptable but this isn't the case since they have relaced an uncut purchasable version of their dub in stores to buy.

From this I don't see any reason why you decided to download it, unless you are a cheapskate that is... X3

That, and its not too hard to find streaming episodes of the dub online so you don't have to take up all that computer space.

Worst of all, he has them CUT, as opposed to uncut. o_O

As for the Ox King line, I think I like the original one better. What would Ox King know what a Saiyan warrior is like? It's similar to bringing up Goku being a Saiyan in the original Dragon Ball.

Something about it just doesn't compute.

Wait, they mentioned Saiyans in the DB dub? O_O
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Trailers and promos, actually. Point still stands, though.

Another example would be how Viz brings up Dragon Ball Z during Goku's fight with Giran.

ugh. Don't remind me. That's another problem with VIZ manga.

It was just an editor's note, no big deal. It's not like they edited that one "alien" line of Oolong's to, "what is he, a Saiyan or something?"

No, it was something along the lines of "Will Goku's journey end here?! Then how do you explain Dragon Ball Z?!' at the end of a chapter.

Ah, I see. Where was that, then?

Still though, so long as it's not story dialogue being changed, no big deal.

Sorry to necro-post, but I have a question.

I know Spirit vs. Spirit doesn't play in the Original Broadcast Dub on the Season Set, but what about the dub with Japanese audio? Does it play there?

While I do not own the set, I don't see why it wouldn't. It's the same audio used in the Japanese version; it sounds like a lot of wasted time and money to remove the song out of the audio. it's all one long piece, IIRC.

Nope. If you mean the Funimation dub with Japanese music, then it doesn't.

Some edits are on Youtube though:

You don't know Funimation then.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Eh, they've had a spotty history at best of including songs in the dub. A decent amount of these songs have been insert songs, which are probably licensed seperately ala carte from the standard BGM score.

Speaking of which, did the Bardock special have 'Solid State Scouter' in the new release?
