Why was IW released in the US before Japan?

Why was IW released in the US before Japan?

Firstly the game was developed in Japanese then modifed for the US version.

So the Japanese version of the game is just sitting there waiting for the Japanese release date before they ship it into stores in Japan right?

Just seems odd that if the game is finished that they would just leave it on the shelf until the release date.

Perhaps the developer is seeing if there are bugs and glitches in the US version they fix the Japanese version before shipping.

Or they could be adding extra content?

Sparking Neo came out for the Wii in North America first, too, and the Japanese Wii version ended up with a few more characters. (Piccolo Daimao, Cyborg Tao, Pilaf, Appule, and Freeza Soldier)

All of the Dimps developed Dragon Ball games besides Burst Limit were released in America before Japan. Sometimes the Japanese version has more content added during the gap between releases, sometimes it doesn't.

The original three Budokai games went the same way, actually... they saw a release in North America long before a Japanese release.

Why is this? Who knows? There has been all sorts of talk about possible Atari & FUNimation influence and prodding to get more games made (it's basically free money to them), and it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case with this one.
