Fun Little Question: What DB Item Disappointed You?

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Tue Nov 18, 2008 12:35 pm

What DragonBall item was the most disappointing to you? Did you buy something expecting something awesome but then realized it was a total waste of money?

For me it was that Vegeta and Nappa two pack that came out a few years ago. Vegeta had the colors from his first appearance in the anime. In all the pictures online it looked effin awesome. I looked all over and couldn't find it in a real store so I bought it online. When I got it, the mold for Vegeta's face was all messed up and his eyes looked really stupid. I was looking forward to that figure for a while but now that I got it, it was a total waste of time and money.

Not that I thought it looked awesome, but I bought and returned Taiketsu on GBA in the same day.

Also, this Yamcha Gashapon I bought came broken in the mail, but I was able to fix it with some glue in a matter of seconds.

Well, I guess currently I am kinda disappointed in Dragonball Origins simply because I hate the touch screen controls.

Actually most of the recent games I just haven't been all that into, even though I still drop 30-60 bucks on them every time they come out.

Movie7. "Yay, more androids!" "... wait, what? rofl not until the fish jumps".

Well, and Shin Butoden for the Saturn, not because of anything wrong with the game, but because I didn't get it until I couldn't see well enough to do anything with it (way the heck too fast-paced to rely on my abilities from Super Butoden3 and UB22...).

The DBZ store used misleading advertising for their three-pack gashapons. I thought I was buying Bardock, a B+W SSJ3 Goku, and either Vegetto or B+W Vegetto. The picture showed a Bardock figure I was looking for, a B+W version of an SSJ3 Goku I already own, and the silhouette of a Vegetto figure claiming to be a "mystery figure." Since I only wanted the Bardock, I decided to get the three-pack.

The three-pack ended up being a Gashapon of Bardock, B+W SSJ3 Goku and Cooler ("mystery figure") instead of the three advertised. The "Six Inch Figures" was explained by the fact that there were 3 two-inch figure in the pack. Bardock's cool, but I wanted an articulated 6-inch action figure like in the picture, not a 2-inch plastic statue.

I also was uber-let down with Taiketsu. Budokai 3 was also a bit of a disappointed, since I owned Budokai 2 prior. Liked the leveling system in it, though.

I bought the legacy of Goku GBA game on Ebay.
You guessed it, it was a fake.

I thought it was genuine and imported from the US, turned out all I got was a game which had a fake box, and didn't save! Also got to say the Collectible card game on the GBA actually sucked.

On the otherhand..... I'm totally digging the new Dragonball Origins D.S game yay! :P

Any Dragonball card games always disappoints me. I bought the one for the Gameboy Color. Hated it. Decided to give it another try with Densetsu for the DS. Hated it as well.

Also, when I was a kid, I got a Goku SSJ3 figure and I was annoyed with it because I thought his hair was all wrong (because I hadn't seen the Buu saga stuff). So I "customised" it :(

This SSj4 Goku figure I bought a couple months ago is kind of cool looking, but otherwise, it's much smaller than I expected, the paint work is iffy, there's hardly any articulation, and his head pops off too easily.

I never purchase action figures, as from my experience of observation, they're nearly all terribly articulated, and the whole look of those types of figures just strike me as disposable.

Dragonball Z Harukanaru Goku Densetsu.

The game plays out like a slug, with no way of altering/skipping the dreadful board game movement. Do I really need to stress through hours of that in order to finish up the storyline that I've read, and watched from beginning to end? I was really expecting a fun gaming experience with this baby, but alas.. Blah.

Gameplay. Not my style. Thought I could get into the hang of it and have fun, but no. I couldn't stand it for more than an hour.

Ironic considering I still play BT3 and find it fun... maybe I am easy to please.

Besides video games, I have not bought many Dragonball merchandise but I do remember buying a Vegeta (Early Freeza Saga) figure long ago only to have it split in half a few days later :x. Real cheap epoxy material was used to stick the legs to the torso. Turned me off buying any more of the figures. It was way back when the Freeza saga was just beginning on Canadian TV.

Nope I still play budokai 3! Scarily I think it's one of the best DBZ games released as of yet... I'm just waiting for my brother to open his XBOX I got him for christmas so I can play burst limit... What does everybody think of burst limit?

I still play occasionally. It looks so pretty, and the fighting moves can look so sweet at times.

I had been looking for a Yugioh GBC game to play on the GBA in vegas for the flight home, but the closest I could find was this... and it is terrible.

They got the CCG rules right, but the CPU has way too many good cards, and is way too damn hard (I had the actual DBZ CCG at the time and liked the real version).

I love BT3!!!

I am going to have to agree on Taiketsu. Basically the worst game ever.

Completely agree. BT3 is my favorite game, but Taiketsu made me want to drown myself in a bucket of mackerel.

Wow. Some of the stuff listed here just amazes me. I really must be a sucker for some of this stuff. First of all, the "First Appearance Vegeta" figure was a really neat idea that got me to buy two frickin' Nappa figures. Perhaps you just got a bad paint job, Tanooki Kuribo, because I really like this figure. The head is at a bit of a weird angle, but otherwise my figure's face and such look fine.

Also, I felt that "Dragonball Z: Harukanaru Densetsu" was fun, if not overly simple. I played this game to completion (although I don't remember if I got all the cards) and really enjoyed it. It won't win any awards, but I definitely got my money's worth out of it.

I'm shocked to see that both "Budokai 3" and "Tenkaichi Budokai 3" are both listed here. I enjoyed both games immensely (although I think I prefer B3's fighting system to BT3's) and was totally psyched to be able to play as more obscure characters like Paikuhan and Janenba especially as I don't have a PSP to play the "Shin Budokai" series where guys like these first appeared.

Image

To stay on-topic, I would have to say my worst DBZ-related purchase would have to be "Dragonball GT: Transformation" for the GBA. I trudged through "Legacy of Goku", immensely enjoyed "Legacy of Goku II", and really liked "Buu's Fury". Imagine my surprise when I picked up this game only to realize that it was a bad "Final Fight" clone. Maybe I just never gave this game a fighting chance (pun intended), but I was really disappointed in it. I guess I wasn't alone as they were supposed to continue the series and never did.

I was very disappointed with Final Bout and Budokai 1 (after 2 weeks).

As for Burst Limit, it is a fun game but energy regens way to fast and its very easy to spam special moves all day long. You can get around it but I found Budokai 3 far more balanced and had more depth to it. Budokai 3 just seemed to have a much higher level of tactics and advanced moves where as BL can be nearly mastered in a day. I went on forums and youtube to find advanced moves for BL after playing a few times and it looked like I was already around the level of the really good players, whereas B3 took a while.
