That CANT be the back shades pictures......isnt that the ones from the trunks/bardock double feature?
And Funimation....i hate you SO very badly. i KNEW you were going to use that photo of Broly on the cover, it is SO crappy and SO over used. the only TRIPLE feature we get and they use the most recycled pic ever.

Why yes, that's exactly what's going on. A lot of people, believe it or not, like having covers that are either original artwork, artwork directly related to the contents of the DVD, or original artwork directly related to the contents of the DVD.B wrote:What's the problem here? Decent looking font for the movie titles, a character relevant to the movies on the cover... Are we complaining about two shadowed obscure figures in the background some people won't even notice?
I know, I know. It's a weird concept, but it's true! That's why I was never able to sell any of those Dragonball DVDs that had Hello Kitty plastered all over them... Well, I couldn't sell them to Dragonball fans, anyway.

I hope thats an accurate release date, but I think Wal-Mart is just fucking up. The movies have so far always come out the same day the seasons came out. And while it would be nice to have season 9 come out almost 1 month after, it just seems more logical that it will be released in may. So I am going to take this information with a grain of salt for the time being ( I believe that Funi will use the same picture of Broli but change the backround) but I hope it is true.SSJ Helldog wrote:Walmart has the release date on 03/31/2009. I wonder if that means Season 9 will be released the same day, or if it will come out with movies 12&13 (I'm guessing mid-May).

I bet Funi is thinking that a Broly Triple pack can sell on it's own without having a DBZ boxset being released on the same day.SSJ2bardock wrote:I can't tell if that would be a good or bad marketing strategy.Raki wrote:Maybe Funi wants to release the last movie set with the last DBZ boxset.okpank wrote:WHAT!? March 31st!? These releases seem to far spread out for something that's been released before.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I'd love to watch the first Broly movie without having to listen to that shitty pop metal in the background.SonGokuGT wrote:The other Broly Blu-ray was an obvious "tech demo" that they made you pay for. Oh well, I enjoyed it and I'll rebuy these again to get the English with Japanese BGM... Dammit...
I'm pretty tolerant of most of FUNimation's bad decisions, but that is the worst in my book.

Say what you will about the single releases of the movies, but atleast they were in the correct order, I'll probably eventually pick up these Blu- Ray releases in a few years (unless Toei answer my prayers with a Blu Ray Dragonbox release) and even then it will still piss me off to no end that I can't line them up in order on my shelf.
Actually I thought Movie 8 had the best Music among the Movies/Specials they used "Real Bands" in.Innagadadavida wrote:I'd love to watch the first Broly movie without having to listen to that shitty pop metal in the background.

Anyway, I like the cover art. Can't say I'm surprised, but stereotypical doesn't mean bad.

They're widescreen... The way they were meant to be seen theatrically... And they look pretty good in my opinion.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:What exactly is the benefit of these double and triple features? Did Funi actually NOT mess up remastering of these and make them look better than the singles?
I'm just happy with singles that cost $10 less. Is there anything I need to know other than there being a dub w/ original music track?

Ah, okay. I don't particularly care too much either way on that, honestly. It's just showing more junk area, right? I make a beeline for the Widescreen version of films as much as the next guy, but I'm not paying $5 more per film for 13 movies for the privilege of having the crust of the peanut movie butter sandwhich cut off.SonGokuGT wrote:They're widescreen... It's actually the 4:3 movie singles that are showing the "junk" area that wasn't meant to be seen, take movie 3 and Gohan's Masenko for example; you can actually see where the painting wasn't finished because the animators knew it was getting cropped for a theatrical release.
The wide-screen double features look better than the singles, they are also pretty competently encoded, however I picked up the singles because there probably won't be another chance to own the movies in 4:3.
