DBZ Movies 7 & 9 Double Feature Discussion

Post by jjgp1112 » Sun Feb 01, 2009 3:52 pm

Since its about that time of the month where people are getting their preordered copies of the double feature or going to Wal-Mart or Best Buy since they always get them as much as 2 weeks early, I've started this thread.

1) Is Cha-La Head-Cha-La kept in the dub track for either movie?
2) Is At the Brink: The Earth's Limit kept in the Movie 7 credits?
3) Is Rising High kept in the Movie 9 credits?
4) Any redubbed lines?
5) Any missing BGM pieces?
6) Is the Broly Triple Feature trailer in the extras?

And this is just one that I specifically want to know:
7) Do the menus use the Japanese BGM like in the Cooler Double Feature?
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Someone already made a thread just a couple threads down. Although both are just questions, so maybe this was a bit preemptive. It might be a good idea until someone actually has the set can be the one to start the thread.

But that one has no posts, so I guess, this one wins?

I guess so. Let's just keep this one as the DT since nobody has noticed the other thread and this one now has 5 posts.

Heya!

I got the Movies 7/9 Double Feature earlier this Friday, and I gotta say it's probably the best video-wise of the Double Features to date. I don't know if it's because these films are newer, FUNi got a hold of some better footage, or they just did a better job of remastering, but these look much better, far less saturated than the previous remasters. And more natural film grain is left intact as well. Also, no missing lines, no noticable cut-off footage, not as much blurring as other releases.

To answer questions:
1) Head-Cha-La is intact in both dubs w/ the JPN music track.
2) Both ending vocal songs are intact on the same track.
3) All original BGM is intact.
4) No redubbed lines, the same dub dialogue as the singles.
5) No Japanese title cards or credits, only the English titles.
6) They went back to using dub BGM for the menus. Meh...
7) The Broly Triple Feature is on the trailers menu for Movie 7.

Ok, now for everyone's favorite part, an assload of screencaps:

MOVIE 7:

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108 ... 288608.png
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108 ... 289048.png

MOVIE 9:

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108 ... 292791.png
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108 ... 293147.png
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108 ... 293541.png
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108 ... 294438.png
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108 ... 295965.png

In sum, audio-wise it's on par with previous Double Features, video-wise it's the best quality yet... Thoughts?

This should look good on Blu ray then. Looking forward to it.

Wow, so basically, aside from the lack of original title cards and credits (which will annoy some, but not me), this set has no cons whatsoever. Very awesome. Can't wait to pick this up.

Few more questions from me.

1.) Has the "Cell defeated Cell" subtitle issue been fixed in the final line of movie 9 before the opening?

2.) Are the title cards in the same font as the previous releases, sans movie five?

Thanks a bunch for always giving us the lowdown on these, originalbilis. :)

1) Yes. The subtitle is correctly refers to "Mr. Satan defeated Cell". So, hurrah for quality control!

2) Yes, both title cards are the same font they've been using, and well integrated into the video I might add...

You're very welcome.

Awesome, thanks a bunch. I'll be definitely replacing my singles with these. And just think, guys: the Broli triple feature comes out at the end of next month! That's pretty soon.

You wouldn't have happened to get the second GT set too, would you have?

Looks very nice, I had a feeling it'd be great. From the looks of the Trailer, the footage looked beautiful.

This thread is missing a certain Movie 7 screencap :) . You all know what I'm talking about.

^^^ Yeah, that shot NEEDS to be a high quality image.

On another note, do the lines for Android 14 (the small one, so I might be wrong about the number) sound out of place with the Japanese music playing? The voice always had a hip-hop or rapper quality to me, and the dub music had the same sort of thing going (which is a huge part of why I don't like Movie 7), but it doesn't seem like something that would work correctly in this context.

Yeah, Movie 7 has a lot of awesome screencap material. The Trunks pose, the Crazy Angry Goku face, Vegeta getting backbreakered, and that.

Another note: MyFavoriteGames has a tons of Dragon Box screencaps (they literally have over 50,000 screencaps from the Dragon Boxes) on their website (go to the screenshot section). For Movie 7, go to Movie 7v2, and Movie 9v2 for 9. However, they're out of order, so it's hard to look for specific screencaps.

Damn those look good. I'm buying this whenever it comes out.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I really like how much grain was left intact for this set. I wonder how it looks compared to the Dragon Box...

If I may ask, How were those screencaps taken? I'm assuming Print Screen?
