Dragon Ball Z Bio-Broly Movie Discussion
I want to know what people think of this movie...I just watched it and thought it was awful!
Terrible artwork and animation, and the plot just....sucked.
As Stormsink said (AND I QUOTE): "Broly looks like a fu***** slime blob with bananas on the back of his head!"

Definitely one of the worst of the movies. But it was good to see some Trunks, Goten, and Krillin action in there.

If you kind of mentally snip out the main plot somehow and pretend it's a movie about 18 and Mister Satan, it's the best four minute feature ever.

While I respect your opinion, you are like the only one EVER who I've heard that likes this movie more than the other Broly movies.ImmortalSandwich wrote:I actually liked Bio Broly a lot more than the other two Broly movies, which I think are complete garbage. And I only liked it for the action, and the scenes with 18 and Mr. Satan were pretty funny.

I only like it more because of how much I can't stand the other two. Seriously. I hate Broly in general, I think he's a stupid character, his background is some of the most ridiculous bullshit I've ever heard, and the movies are plain boring and the action isn't very good. Bio Broly isn't much better, but I enjoyed watching Goten and Trunks fight, and I was a lot more entertained by it than the other movies.ShinRogafuken wrote:While I respect your opinion, you are like the only one EVER who I've heard that likes this movie more than the other Broly movies.ImmortalSandwich wrote:I actually liked Bio Broly a lot more than the other two Broly movies, which I think are complete garbage. And if you're a Broly fan, I don't mean to offend anyone. I just don't like the character.

The flick isn't terrible, but the addition of Broly as the main antagonist is what kills it I suppose. I've since grown to enjoy this film for what it is however. Seeing 18 and Kururin in action is always fun I suppose.
In essence, movie 11 and 10 were wasted potentials. The movie series could have had just a tidbit more variety mixed in.

It's my second favorite DBZ movie. I like how it's basically a parody of Broly. Not to mention Krillin and 18 got screentime. Trunks and Goten actually beat the "Bio Broly" by using their minds and not raw power. An excellent DBZ film, that in my opinion, stands out against all the others.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Movie 11 has a warm place in my heart. It was the first Fansub I ever owned/saw. I will admit, that I was a bit confounded by the fact that Broly never seems to go full power. He just keeps going and going. But what makes me love this movie are the interactions between all of the characters. I think I've stated before that anything with Goten and Trunks interaction is pure gold to me.
I will agree that the same interactions could have been achieved with [insert new, non-lazy villan], but you can't have everything! It'd be like asking for an offical non-filler version of DBZ-oh, wait....nevermind

This movie was one of the worst DBZ movies out there, aside from the ever confusing "Tree of Might". I'm split on the continuation of Broly's story, I like the concept but it could have been played out better. The writing for the 3rd movie was really weak and boring and seeing Broly as "The Blob" was really stupid IMO. However the one thing I can never forget is when Marron had to pee, and in the sub Krillin is like "Where is the Damn Bathroom!" Hearing that and seeing Trunks flip off Broly made my 12 year old mind(at the time) go POP!(first time I saw any sort of "bad" language used in any cartoon ever)
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

Yeah, it wasn't great. There were some entertaining parts though.
I know it's the sort of thing people say to be obnoxious, but I'm being dead serious when I say that I thought the best part of the movie was the end credits.

I thought this movie was pretty good. It didn't follow the same formula of the movies (bad guy, can't beat, impossible odds overcome, BBQ), honestly, Bio-Broly could have been replaced and it wouldn't have mattered.
Goten and Trunks are hilarious together. And Krillin was relevant. Mr. Satan and 18. What more can you ask for?

People always list so many reasons why they hate this movie and not one of them ever made sense to me. The fight scenes are wonderfully choreographed (especially any of the Trunks/Goten vs. Broli ones), it contains one of my favorite Kikuchi movie scores, and it breaks so many established formulas for the DBZ films. It's definitely among my favorite Dragon Ball movies.
The most common complaint I hear is regarding the "climax." People are always saying that they kill Broli with water and that's the end of it, which isn't true at all. Trunks actually uses his brain and tricks Broli, which sets off a chain of events resulting in his defeat. That's how the good guys win the battle. It was a clever ending, having the kids actually use their heads and outsmart the villian when they can't defeat him with strength. We don't get enough of that in Dragon Ball. Besides, that's not even the climax of the film. I wish everyone would stop calling it the climax. Kuririn, Goten, and Trunks' triple Kamehame-Ha on the deadly-acid is the grand finale, and it's an awesome scene. THAT'S the climax of the movie, folks.
The 30-second scene of Broli rising out of the ocean and getting hardened is just one last "scare the audience" moment. Tons of movies do that, Dragon Ball or not. It's not meant to be a climax; everything has already been resolved. It's just one last "you thought it was over, but it wasn't" shock to the audience, something that you'll see in any horror movie. Everybody takes that part way too seriously.
But yeah, it's one of my favorite Dragon Ball adventures, no doubt. The fact that it's really Kuririn's last time to shine in the anime makes it even sweeter.

The bit about 18 still trying to get the money from Mr. Satan was great, but as an avid anti-Goten & Trunks person, I really didn't enjoy this movie that much. I kind of liked the first Broly movie (though it didn't live up to the hype), I thought the second one was astoundingly mediocre, and this one was basically garbage. All the same, Movies 12 and 13 really pulled it together and went out on the strong side, so there's a light to come after movie 11 at least.
