Instances in Movie 5 removing its "canonity?"

He isn't in it < < Not even in a cameo in a corner, because as much as I've watched that movies and followed my green boys I woulda seen him. There are a lot of other young warrior boys but not Neru. The Nameccians just have a very simple method of dress and their outfits resemble each other a lot.

I can't possibly explain the happiness I'd have if he was still hanging around on Nameksei somewhere... but no. Le sigh. I'll just have to go back to my fanfics.

I was talking about the Trunk’s sword comment.

In his daizenshuu bio, for the anime differences, it describes how he first went SSJ, and how he got his sword: "We also learn in the anime that sword wielded by the Trunks from the future had been given to him by Tapion." That's why I take movie 13 as part of GT canon, but not the series'.

As for Minoshia, wasn't that implied by the movie? Minoshia gets sent somewhere, Hoi follows, and then 1,000 years later the prologue in which Minoshia gets killed in takes place. Even if I'm wrong, whatever process Hoi used must have taken forever, otherwise he would have re-used it on Earth.

As for Nail in movie 6: like I said, if you want to say it's another, similar looking Namek, fine. But saying no Namek even looks like him because they were similar clothing is assinine. The Namek Warrior who fights the Big Geti Star's robots prior to Goku and co arriving HAS NAIL/PICCOLO'S FACE. It even has a profile zoom when he's still handcuffed in line. I'm not talking bg Stan Lee cameo here, I'm talking active role for 2-3 minutes.

EDIT: And although I personally don't see this happening, it is theoretically possible for Nail to be wished back by the Nameks. It could even be done when Muri upgraded the Namek DBs to bring back more than one person:

Wish 1: Bring back every Namek killed by Vegeta
Wish 2: Transfer Nail's soul from Piccolo to Namek
Wish 3: Bring back Nail

It's just the way he was drawn. TOEI probably wasn't trying to imply anything about Nail at all.

oO I never said there weren't boys that looked similar- Pic anc Neru're pretty good examples of that. I was saying if you saw someone in clothes like Neru's in the background that wouldn't be too strange of a thing.

And you meant the Line-Jumper? I never would have guessed you meant him because he's never looked that close to Neru for me (face is broader, little bit shorter, diffrent nose). I'm looking up the vid for my own interest and was thinking about posting comparison shots but... that would prett much be gratuitous on such a minor point. Toriyama's general face designs are just similar to each other.

We don't know how long it took Hoi to find Minoshia to begin with. It may have taken a long time for Hoi to find Minoshia, and "only" about 10 years for him to free him from his box. Which is pretty much how much later Trunks got his sword in the TV Special from the main timeline's Trunks (you only see Future Trunks with his sword after Gohan dies).

Ah, I follow. Fair enough; as long as the process takes 6-9 years, then it works with future Tapion.

It's been awhile since I've seen the flick, but I find it hard to believe that it took 3 minutes for him to flex outta his cuffs, rush a 'bot, and fail/get saved by Z crew.

I always assumed he was one of the warriors who Dodoria had killed on Namek. I can't draw a mental image, but wasn't he dressed just like one of them? And they were all resurrected and basically served as the planet's guardians.

It's not that boy either, I'd have recognised him in a heartbeat. That guy had a longer face. This is just Line Jumper. A seperate Nameccian warrior who isn't any more Neru than Pumbakin is Nappa.

While Movie 5 can technically fit into the DBZ timeline, it has a number of inconsistencies that makes it un-canon.

If this is after Mecha Freeza & King Cold's death, then why did Cooler acknowledge Goku as being the one who killed Freeza when it was Trunks? And it seemed like Cooler only knew about Freeza's death, not King Cold.

And number two, Son Goku had to be enraged to go Super Saiyan. Sure, you could put it down to Toei wanting dramatic effect, but that doesn't take away the fact that Goku had to be angry to transform. And how Cooler was going on about Goku killing Freeza implies that Goku "killed" Freeza on Namek.

I have no idea how you justify Nail getting wished back.

A) He never died; came real close, but Piccolo merged before he kicked the bucket.

B) Piccolo didn't murder him while they were fused. That one's moderately impossible.

C) The wish brought back dead people; since Nail didn't die, he couldn't get wished back.

Sweet JEEBUS, I said the line jumper looks identical to Nail when they did zoom-ins of him in line. Can we let this part of the thread die, please?
