Dragon Ball Evolution received a 16% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.com. It's made $4.7 million on opening weekend. Hannah Montana has a score of 46% and received $34 million.

Make of this what you will.

The tears I am crying are not the conjunctivitus that I have contracted... These tears are for Dragonball Evolution. How can Hannah Montannah make $34 million dollars... She is a ditzy blonde with a microphone and a slutish outfit. I would spend my cash on seeing Chatwin make a fool of himself anyday.
Personally I found the movie rather entertaining, I was pleasantly surprised with the result after expecting the worst. I think I will certainly be purchasing the DVD and perhaps even catching it in the cinema again. - If just to sabatage the Hannah Montanna movie next door! Any ideas people!? How about we put Hannah Montanna and Chichi in a room together? That would be rather interesting...

On a random note... I hate conjunctivitus it frigging hurts. :(
"Ok, use your instincts Kakarott. Right or Left? (Hmmm... I'd have to say... left.) Good. Then I'm going right!" (Vegeta to Goku as they try to find their way to free the others inside Buu - Episode: The Innards of Buu)

This sounds like a satisfying plan.

Let's put Spopovitch and Montana in a room together. I would almost forgive him for his attack on Videl because of this plan.

I think NeptuneKai's mind is in a different place than what you guys are thinking about... :p

Yeah but everyone on here and abroad did not react in the manner as most of the members of this forum have, personally I enjoyed the movie and felt satisfied.
I loved the movie aswell. I'm just saying that if the sequel were closer to the source material, than even more fans would like it, and even more would go see it.

I'm also positive that one closer to the source material would appeal to the critics more, aswell.

The second rule is, don't talk about dragonball club.

"The seven dragonballs... must be found... so... humanity's fate... will be bound."
One dragonball to rule them all, and in the darkness... bind them?

"I WILL DEFEAT OOZARU!!"
More like, I will defeat Ozai, huh huh huh get it. The writers were watching Avatar: The Last Airbender at the same time as Dragonball, and they totally got the content of the two cartoons confused.

"The first rule is... there are no rules!"
Oh, look... they're saying it again. Like they've done with every line. I guess they think all these lines have the potential to become really iconic? Maybe here Goku means he's about to fight dirty in order to save the planet? You know... kick some sand in Piccolo's face, or whatever? Wait, nevermind. He's not doing anything of the sort. Okay. I guess he just likes saying it.

I don't understand how anybody could have any reaction other than pure love for this film; it was comedic gold from start to finish. If they make a sequel, I want it to be exactly the same. You're all massively overvaluing the need for an "actual Dragonball movie".

Naaah.
The one we got (and those we'll get? dear lord...) just feels like a depressing waste of money...

I certainly wouldn't pay full price for it but this movie is good for a few laughs. I still want to watch The Magic Begins back to back with Evolution.
The Magic Begins sincerely seems like a faithful adaption compared to this flick.

I don't think Chi-Chi is that hot.

I was thinking about the budget of the movie, actually.
And it's not like there's a shortage of "so good they're bad" movies...
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". I saw the movie on Friday and really enjoyed it. I had already watched it online before, but I finally saw it on the big screen which made a huge difference.

Anyway, some non DB friends of mine saw it too and enjoyed it. I really feel like the movie is receiving undue hate. Anyone who has been following the movie through here already knows my opinion on the matter.

But I have to say, only 4.8 million opening weekend is a travesty, and I can only assume it did so poorly due to lack of advertising/bad hype/strong competition. But in reality, Hannah Montana did very poorly as well, 34 mil opening weekend is nothing to write home about.

ARE YOU CHALLENGING ME!!!????

Hannah Montana was the number one movie this weekend. And I can tell you this not only because it says it everywhere, but we have it at my theater and it sold out a ridiculous amount of times.

What I am saying is that 34 Million, even though it was number 1, isn't that great of an opener. Fast and Furious made 70 million. 34 million is average.
