Heck if DBE keeps taking these little jumps at the box office then we may have a sequel. I'm guessing it may reach $60 million. Add DVD sales and it made a fair amount. Especially if the budget is exactly $45 million.
Aka gtadbzman.

What, you have some kind of grudge against me or what?

I just said that I didn't follow you. Regarding what you said. Just above. The part I quoted.

I can respect all of that but as things are now there is simply no way this movie is getting a sequel. I don't care who signed what or how many scripts they have in the works. There is no way in hell this movie is getting a sequel. Unless Japan jumps into the fray there won't be another live action Dragon Ball for a long long time...and if I'm wrong...and Fox does make a sequel...I will shit in a hat. Real talk...I will shit in a fucking hat if they make a sequel to this movie.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Wait, are you honestly suggesting that we should hold movies in more or less relative esteem based on previous, unrelated movies by the same director? Umm…

Well I will buy the hat when we get the official word on the sequel. :D
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

I was just saying that if you are going to go see a movie directed by Sam Raimi, then you should expect the movie to have at least some goofy humor. Spiderman-3 just went a bit over the top.

Well dude the movie has been out for 2-3 weeks and it's already out of the theater. It was pretty much hated by everyone and Fox hasn't said a word about it since. All signs point to a sequel. Just in case buy a Cubs hat. I hate them.

I don’t think goofy humor was its chief fault though. It was just poorly executed from start to finish.

It's still in (some) theaters and it made a profit. FOX-logic demands 12 DTV sequels. :P

No I don't think he was being nasty, He was just simply pointing out you contradicted yourself slightly by saying you wanted to keep it alive... And then it would be the biggest flop in cinema history.
I guess perhaps you were being sarcastic, It's kind of hard to tell through a pc. Just try and stay cool dude. 8)

Uh, no. There are plenty of movies that did way worse, seriously, way worse. At least Evolution made back it's budget and then some according to most recent reports. Some movies never recoup their budget, and some make almost no money at all.

Why would/does anyone want a sequel anyway? Do you think they're going to "get it right" with the sequel? There's nothing they did right! The whole movie is a disaster start-to-finish. It needs a new director, better writers, a bigger budget, recasting, people who care more to make it more true to the original series, etc. etc.

If they make a sequel now, it's going to likely have nearly the same or a lower budget. It's going to be the same untalented jerks doing the series injustice all over again.

The movie failed. Hard. I mean, I have absolutely zero desire about any further DB live-action movies because I just know that they will never get it right. They'll always screw it up because those people don't GET the series.

So I can live with them not making another unless they reboot it and actually CARE about the movie they're making.

What's not to GET? Its a childrens cartoon adapted into a childrens movie. Maybe the problem isn't the movie makers not taking it seriously, but the fans taking it TOO seriously.

I do like the movie. But I certainly wouldn't say that they got it right... That would imply that they didn't make any mistakes.

You're assuming that it A) can't have a new director, better writers, recasting, etc for the sequel, and B) it needs to be closer to the original. It's a standalone continuity. It just needs to improve on the first movie, not become a live-action film version of the manga.

Whether or not they got "it right" is nothing more than mere an opinion. It can be right for me and not be right for you.

As I said. Your opinion.

My opinion differs greatly.

And with that, since it IS your opinion, you CANNOT say they "Got it right" as if it were fact. The closest you could, legitimately, is if the public consensus were the same. Last time I checked, it most certainly wasn't.

I know they have the material to make a better sequel, the script for the first movie was far superior to what they shot. I'm willing to bet the producers at Fox were involved in all the horrible decisions.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.
