Perfect Cell episode number confusion

Post by Velasa » Wed May 20, 2009 1:03 am

So I was cataloguing exactly what episodes I'm missing for another post in the forum when I noticed something.... odd with the "Perfect Cell' era of FUNi releases. I thought the order went

Hunt for 18
Temptation
Perfection
Unstoppable

I assumed this because that's the order I bought the VHS in as they were released years ago, and.... well, that's what makes the picture on the side line up. When I watched the VHS years ago they seemed to flow in that order. But according to the backs of the VHS tapes and the FUNi single DVDs, the episode numbers are all over the chart. See as so-

Hunt for 18- 138-140
Temptation- 156-158
Perfection- 149-161
Unstoppable- 147-150

So my question is..... What the hell's going on?

To me, it seems as if they reverted to the Japanese numbering scheme for Perfect Cell - Temptation and Perfect Cell - Perfection. That's what I've gathered from it. If you look at a Japanese episode list, they should match up. Strange thing for FUNimation to do. The DVDs are in the right order, but they just had a misprint with the episode numbers.

Yeah, it was a well-known and documented error for when the discs were released. For whatever reason, they were printed with the Japanese episode numberings on the back of those discs. Don't know if it was corrected in later printings of them, but it's of course irrelevant now with the Orange Bricks.

Holy crap. I never noticed that, but you're right! And to make matters even weirder, there have been many times where I had all my DVDs mixed up and based on the episode count, I put the DVDs back in order. How the HELL did I miss that? Whatever happened, I did have the four DVDs out of order in their box. Hmm. So weird.

Thanks for the answer guys. I never even looked at the episode count on these before- the VHS I just organized by the picture, and when I got the DVDs I organized them by the VHS. It was only when I actually looked at the numbers the other day that I noticed it ^^;

Another weird Funi VHS tape issue...

General Blue Saga..

The first tape showed 3 episodes on the back but it actually had 4.

Also, the second VHS tape was never released! They seemed to skip it.
Goku: "Look Vegeta! People popcorn!"
Vegeta: "What is he on?"

I don't know if many people own VHS. The DVDs came with plenty of episodes per DVD.
