What the fuck. 17's alive!?

I'm watching the part when it shows Goku's old friends contributing to his Genki Dama and it's showing 17 forcing two hunters along with himself contributing. Am I dreaming!?

I don't remember him in this part at all.

Uh, yeah. 17 is alive. That's how he's able to have a role in GT. He's also seen contributing his genki in the manga, so it's not just a filler scene.

But how does Krillin have kids with 18? I thought Shenron said he couldn't turn them human.

They are not fully-mechanical beings like #16 (a "robot"). They are cyborgs, and were originally organic humans like anyone else... just with extra parts.

Which also ties back to the aforementioned wishes made after the Cell Games. When Son Goku refuses to be resurrected, the others cannot decide on a wish and Kuririn steps forward to ask Shenlong to return #17 and #18 to the original humans they used to be.

I'm being 100 percent serious. I find the word "retard" extremely offensive, especially when used in this context. That 'joke' was really in poor taste, though I wonder if such a word was the literal translation, or an interpretation by the translator.
