The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

What on Earth!? This is bizzare.
It's in widescreen, which I thought FUNimation knew better by now (I guess I should have known better). The "Product in Inches" description make this set the same size as a normal DVD case. The only language it lists is Japanese. I doubt FUNimation would release a season set without the dub; they'd be alienating the majority of their audience.
Obviously specs are a little off. Maybe due to a lack of details. Or maybe the whole thing is fake.
EDIT: I sent an e-mail to FUNimation about this. I'll post their response if they do respond.

I'm psyched! If this is a hoax, it's an elaborate one, made by someone willing to risk their job to piss off a handfull of people.
This just sounds like the bad copy that gets written by Funimation peeps.

Goku might be small, but this fearless warrior packs a punch as powerful as any on the planet. Left alone after his grandfather's death, this unusual boy is happy to spend his days hunting and eating and eating some more. But all that changes on the day he meet Bulma - a bossy, blue-haired beauty with boys on the brain. Together, they set out to track down the seven magic Dragon Balls and make a wish that will change their lives forever.

I wouldn't read too much into the specs. Wal*Mart's specifications have proven sometimes to be all kinds of messed up, just like Amazon's on occasion. As for the "widescreen" thing, that's also something that retails sometimes goof on, so I don't think we need to freak out just yet until we have it confirmed either way from FUNi themselves. If it is widescreen, though, then FUNi has pretty much lost what little respect I gained for their DragonBall department after their good GT sets. They should know better by now.
The release date says September, but FUNi's solicitations for that month haven't come out yet, so we'll just have to wait and see. I can't help but get a little excited, though. This could very well be the moment we've all been waiting for.

Hmmm... FUNi has never given a Dragon Ball product TV-14 before. Of course I don't think half of the information is correct and Wal-Mart just put the information that they thought was correct.
GT is underrated and the International Channel will always be my favorite channel for foreign programming. I still miss it.

Well if this is what we all think it is, then this might be how it will end up looking. (Shots taken from flashbacks in the DragonBall Z season sets)

Yikes! But let's not jump to any conclusions just yet.

The flashbacks always look pretty bad, so hopefully those aren't indications.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Well if this is what we all think it is, then this might be how it will end up looking. (Shots taken from flashbacks in the DragonBall Z season sets)

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

If this is true, then this is some really great news. I really couldn't care less if it is widescreen or not. As long as I have some Dragon Ball to watch, then I'm good.

Also, it seems they are releasing the two DBZ TV specials on seperate disc's. Odd...
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... d=11100002
This could only make sence if each disc was chop full of extra's and goodies about each special. But we all know that won't be the case so... what the fuck?
Ah, such is FUNimation...

On the bright side, it looks like this random TV special release could be where Wal*Mart got the "widescreen" thing from, in addition to the inaccurate DVD case dimensions. They might have just carelessly copy/pasted those specs onto the Dragon Ball set to match these TV special releases, which means these sets might not be cropped after all.
Didn't FUNi only get one version of each, though? That's more Toei's fault than FUNi's. Of course, since FUNi and Toei are, like, best friends now, I suppose FUNi could ask them for the other versions. The Time Traveller wrote:I hope they fix the fucking Opening and Ending Animations, that really blew that they only used ONE throughout the whole show. But... FUCK, This is awesome, I can't wait...

If the first 13 were to be released in Japanese only, would that violate their agreement? If anyone knows.
Edit:
Since there is a pre-order button, does this mean that some product that meets these vague descriptions does actually exist, or is this one of those things where a listing appears because enough people searched?

Funi doesn't do sub only sets. Either they got the rights to the first episodes or they wouldn't do the set. I wonder if this means they will be dubbing Movie 1.Freeza Heika wrote:If the first 13 were to be released in Japanese only, would that violate their agreement? If anyone knows.

So does anybody know what might have taken place in order for FUNi to begin distributing them on their own? License expire? Did they buy the license? Are they distributing the first set in conjunction with Lionsgate?MajinVejitaXV wrote:The agreement is a distribution license for North America. Doesn't matter if it's Japanese, English, Turkish, Urdu, etc. FUNimation can't do it.
