So excited for this.

Can't wait to have the entire Dragon Ball series sitting on my shelf. (And in a consistent package design, so my OCD doesn't go crazy due to having all different packages)

4:3? Most probably not. The proper openings and endings? Well, there'll be the first textless opening, though I think FUNi only has textless access to that and the second ending. Unless, ya' know, they do what they did with GT and rotoscope/digi-paint the others into textless versions.

Because it's been listed as widescreen thus far.

The listings have been wrong before.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

When is this dumbass anime expo so we can finally hear the damn news?! FUNIMATION YOU'RE KILLING ME! I swear though if they release movie 1, I'd be kind of pissed becuase I bought the Dragonbox movie 1(or 15 whatever) single after getting tired of waiting for it to hit the states uncut. If they do that, it will be cool to hear the original cast back in a brand sort of new, movie.

Do you recon Funimation are going to keep it totally uncensored like Z and GT?
I'm just thinking of the really funny scene with Mai dressed as the fortune teller.
"Take out your balls..."
Goku cluelessly "You want to see my balls!... Err Sure, these balls you mean?"

It's been a good few months since I have watched it, So i'm likely a little off with the dialogue but you get the picture. It was just a scene which made me cry with laughter. Typical dragonball humour! :P
I'm looking forward to having all the sets lined up on my shelf looking all nice and tidy. :D No more single sets looking untidy!
"Ok, use your instincts Kakarott. Right or Left? (Hmmm... I'd have to say... left.) Good. Then I'm going right!" (Vegeta to Goku as they try to find their way to free the others inside Buu - Episode: The Innards of Buu)

That was Husky, not Mai, and they better keep it uncensored. Though some people have complained about a few frames removed when breasts are shown.

Yeah, the balls scene was uncensored in the last release, but the boobs were removed, I think.

Why would you be pissed? That's a cool thing to have even if you're going to get the movie again anyway. DragonBox is always cool.

As for leaving things unedited, FUNi's never had a problem with keeping the content inside the episodes uncut and unedited. Sure, they might gloss over certain things in the dub, but I highly doubt the footage will be messed with.

... well, beyond the remastering, that is...

EDIT: Wait, the Bulma-boobs scene was removed? The one during the Baba arc? That's the first I've heard of this. Anyone care to explain? How does the episode work with that shot removed? Without that, Roshi has no reason to nosebleed and get the Invisible Man covered in it.

Yeah, that was one of the more... special parts of the dub. Basically, Kuririn opens a can of tomato juice, which sprays all over the Invisible Man, rendering him visible. I forget why they needed Bulma for that, maybe she was the only one with such a drink on-hand. I think they mixed in a clip from the second Dragon Ball movie, where Kuririn opens a soft drink can, into that scene.

It was funny, though. I still remember everyone's WTF reactions/begrudgingly admitting that it was a clever tactic.

I'd heard about the tomato juice bit, but that was in the "uncut" as well? I thought that was just for the TV edit...

I don't know what you're talking about there. The way I remember it is that it's implied that Bulma's top is pulled down because Krillin puts his hands on it then it immediately cuts to Roshi's nose spraying blood. That's on the "uncut" dvd I guess.

I think this is the last frame in the FUNimation DVD:

Basically I think they removed all instances with nipples.

Yep, strangely enough. Kuririn shakes it up right before he spurts it all over the guy, if I remember right. Tomato juice apparently has 100 times the explosive power of coke and other carbonated drinks.

And Inna, I just jumped into the conversation and didn't realize that you all were talking specifically about the last DVD release. So, uh, never mind. The tomato juice thing refers to its first run on Cartoon Network.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

So it got two TV edits? Tomato juice and no on-screen tits?

Nah, thankfully that left the scene untouched and in full on the uncut DVDs. So yeah, the tomato juice thing was only for the TV edit/Cartoon Network.
Yeah, except we just found out that they didn't leave it untouched on the DVD either.
