So Burst Limit is some kind of Budokai game?
This whole topic is goofy, but allow me to interject this bit:

The Budokai games and Burst Limit were developed by Dimps. Sagas was not. *points to topic name*

That is all.

Really? I'm confused now. I thought Burst Limit was developed by Spike? Ahh. Nevermind. Forget that I ever posted about Burst Limit. I have stated my opinion about Budokai 2 and Infinite World. That's that

PS: I regret having sold Budokai 2 to GameStop just for for another new DBZ game :(

Dimps = Budokai 1, 2, 3, Shin Budokai, SB2, Infinite World & Burst Limit

Spike = Sparking!, NEO, METEOR & Raging Blast

Not to mention the lack of stages, costumes, and attention to detail. If you're gonna do cut-scenes then at least do them right!

Ok guys...Say what you will about this thread but you gotta admit (aside from the pretty graphics and music) they could have done a much better job with Burst Limit. Especially after Budokai 3. I mean I'd have been happy if they took Infinite World and gave it Burst Limit's graphics but Burst Limit was just unacceptable. Especially for 60 dollars? Fuck outta here....and now their doing the same shit with Raging Blast. Where does the milking end... :?
Unlike Burst Limit, at least Raging Blast will reach the Buu Saga (at least), have (likely) downloadable content, dozens more characters, more moves per character than in the Sparking! games, as well as a new HUD, signature moves, and more additions. You can't say Raging Blast is a step-back or even a tiny spet ahead of the Sparking! series, except for the fact that there will be less characters and stages. That seems to be the only hurdle to me. Otherwise, it looks quite fantastic.

Maybe I'll add to the first post "Horrible Decisions of Spike" just to keep the Budokai masturbators happy.

Well we could sit here nitpicking at any video game really, you could probably make a bigger list of things which made said games good.

I think without these mistakes we wouldn't have the better games out of the Dragonball Z franchise, as long as they are keeping the franchise alive and pleasing some people I don't mind waiting through a couple of crappy games (Budokai 1 and 2) for one game which is hella good (Budokai 3).

My only complaint with Budokai 3:
-Questionable character options (SSJ4 Goku & Vegeta transformations to DBZ forms)

I think he means Z-era Goku and Vegeta being able to go SSj4.

Which was totally impractical in Budokai 3 anyway, since you had to use up almost your entire Capsule roster to do it. Infinite World may not have been a huge step up from B3, but at least it fixed that problem.

You're correct.

And I agree with your statement about capsules and Infinite World... that was pretty much the only good thing about that game. GT Vegeta. Haha. Also, I'm pretty pissed they didn't add Future Gohan to the game. What the hell? Mr. Satan's in the game, but Future Gohan isn't? :?

I'm really tired of Mr. Satan being in these games... if he's in Raging Blast, I'm going to epic facepalm.

The usual mindset of any Sparking! can be found here: quantity over quality. People say Burst Limit doesn't have enough content, but let's look at this as a true fighting game, which is what Dimps have been starting to head in the direction of:
A game engine which has been tweaked over years to near perfection.
Brilliant visuals, which even though a few years old, floor the upcoming Raging Blast's.
A soundtrack that varies from orchestral, to heavy rock.
Character individuality, the move inputs may be the same, but the outcome will differ greatly.

That to me sounds like a solid fighter, which is what Burst Limit is. Sparking! fans do not seem to understand that Dimps arn't interested in getting a shit ton of characters jammed into a single game, nor are that interested about getting all the facts about Dragonball Z 100% right, they want to give you a fun, yet totally solid fighting engine based on the franchise.

Tenkaichi fans want a Dragonball game.

Budokai fans want a fighting game that features Dragonball characters.

It's as simple as that.

Are you suggesting the fighting in Budokai games is nothing like the actual series? Because Budokai 3 was pretty damn close to the show IMO. Maybe not as close as Sparking, Budokai 3 still has the restrictions of a traditional fighter, but it still allows you to do most things from the series.

Dimps probably had nothing to do with this, but...

Why do we get Hercule, as well as "HELL" and "DEVILMAN" in Budokai Tenkaichi 3?

Oh yeah, and "Room of Spirit and Time" goddamn...

You just answered your own question. Being restricted to two dimensions cripples Budokai's attempts to emulate the show.

No I did too. I thought it was a neat idea to think Trunks managed to reach SSj2 in his own time or something.

I'd like to ask my own question though. Am I the only one who thought Burst Limit was good?

I mean it had a fantastic look(Better than Raging Blast), the character roster was small but no one felt the same. Every character had their own unique entity. The fighting was well balanced. New comers(well actually people use to the Tenkaichi series) would be able to pick it up fast but it was more than just one button smashing. Personally, I feel it was the best DBZ game I've played to date(let the record show I haven't played anything from the SNES days).

Not at all. I thought it wasn't worth $60, but for $30 or so it was a fine game. Easily up there with the first Budokai. I thought the visuals were nice, the gameplay was fine and it had a nice foundation to build upon for future installments. Plus, it did arguably yield the best dub Goku performance that FUNimation has produced.

The drama pieces however got old, and I did miss the ability to customize characters. Plus, little things like inconsistent appearances and such made it feel a little sloppy.

Truth be told though, the main thing is that it failed to escape the trap that all DragonBall games in the past decade have fallen into: I play it once all the way through, put it away and never play it again (save for the rare times when I'm flipping through my games and get an itch).

There is a third type of fan.

One that wants one game to allow option to switch 2d/3d fighter.

but the show is cartoon and therefore 2d by nature

This is very true. I don't think making it 3D made it feel MORE like the show. in fact there were many elements that really killed it for me. Split screen for example. The biggest annoyance for me. This is a fighting game, you shouldn't need a split screen for a fighting game.

The 2D games do a great job of getting the dragonball feel. Look at Budokai 3 and hell even burst limit. The flow was beautiful(provided you don't have online lagging for burst limit that is).

The only thing I'd ask from the 2D dragonball fighters is that they allow flying like they did in the old SNES games.

You can fly on command in most Budokai games by double pressing back and up, and holding it on the second press. Back and down makes you fly down. I think Budokai 3 and onwards all have this, but Budokai 2 might've had it as well.
