What do you think would have been the best ending point?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I can't recall any instance where Goku did what Gohan did.

Goku drank the water that was poisonous to achieve greater power, and also got three years to train with Kami to achieve a power in par with Piccolo Jr.
Gohan got the Chou powerup and spent a year in the ROSAT to achieve a power inferior to Cell.
It was only because of his anger he got the SSJ2 in the first place.

Goku got beat up by Android 19, and when he was defenseless, he screamed "HELP MEEE!!!" when his energy was drained.
Gohan froze up once in the Saiya-jin saga, and then didn't want to fight Cell. But he never screamed for help from anyone. He never shouted "I don't want to die!".

Otherwise, they did the same in fights, their best.
Bullshit powerups aside, Gohan isn't such a bad character, even though he made some mistakes with his training.
No more time for Daizex. Goodbye folks!

I'm not talking about power-ups and stuff. I just meant that one situation, as Cell was powering up his Kamehameha, where Gohan was the only one who had a hope of doing anything to stop Cell, but he didn't. Goku never did that.

The closest I remember him coming was against monkey Vegeta, when he was completely crippled. But he still fought for as long as he possibly could.

And it was the only time Gohan did that too. And I think it will always feel out of character to me.

Just like when Trunks gave up against Perfect Cell and asked Cell to kill and get it over with. But that's another topic.

*The end of the battle with Freeza
*The end of the battle with Cell

I would have ended it at either of those two points.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I think ending it with the Boo saga was fine, despite that story getting really out of hand.

I just wished Gohan wasn't pushed out of story like he was. He came back to fight Boo, was unbelievably strong, then Goku comes back again and Gohan is put on the shelf. Considering how Gohan started off in the arc, the ending wasn't good for him.

Yeah, I'd have like for Gohan to have a proper heroic victory like that. But I do think the ending with the Spirit Bomb is the best Goku ending it could have had, since the whole world joins in, and we get to see some of the old characters, and Mark gets a big role in the saving the day (plus he befriended Buu in the first place. Even Piccolo admitted he was a true champion).

As much as I don't like Kid Buu, the Spirit Bomb was, I think, possibly the best ending the Buu saga could have had, even if I would have liked Gohan to triumph by himself. And I really like the get together at the lookout afterwords, which is done without any words.

Cuz he'z da troo villain of da sho not anyone else hes horrible!!!!111!!

*Ahem*
Am I the only one who actually thinks the Buu arcs ending was sufficient?
No. It sorta works for me, but I definitely would've changed a few things.

-Gohan, NOT GOKU, being the final hero.

-Gohan and Videl wedding saga, please. If Chichi and Goku got one, why can't they?

-No Uub. For god's sake, NO UUB!

Uubs okay... but I agree with everything here. Also for the Rocky debait I think we can all agree Rocky 4 is the best.

DBZ ending with Buu is just fine. If it was just the Saiyan Saga with that fucking dumbass, cheesy Ocean dub followed by the boring as hell, snail-paced Freeza Saga (Made even worse by the accompaniment of FUNi's god awful dubbing at the time) the show wouldn't have even been a blip on my radar and I probably wouldn't have stuck around for the pretty good Saiyan Saga re-dub that would eventually come.

What about against Gotenks-Buu or against Recoome, where he gave his all, even when crippled and hurt?

I should also mention that had it not been for the excellent Cell and Buu Sagas, I probably wouldn't have gotten into a bunch of other anime series (Unless I happened to watch Yu Yu Hakusho, which I only ever saw while also watching the parts of DBZ I actually enjoyed on Toonami).

I think they should of ended it after Cell. Though the Buu arc was good, I would consider it about as good or maybe slightly better than GT.
Aka gtadbzman.

The best ending would have been with Super Goku transmitting themselves to Kaiosama's planet, both should have died there. That would have made the best ending, the hero dies and the earth lives on.

I agree, the Freeza Saga was the best ending.

After the Cell arc would've been fine with me. And then maybe Toriyama could've written something like the Afterworld Tournament to close the series out.
