I liked him in Movie 8. I thought the whole backstory with Paragus and how King Vegeta was afraid of Brolli becoming the legendary super saiyajin instead of his son; the whole attempted murder thing, etc. Also, I really enjoyed that extended battle at the end. And as mentioned by others in earlier posts: "Reading and sports."

Movie 10 could have seriously benefited from actually giving Brolli dialogue. For some reason, Toei forgot that he's actually got a vocabulary on him. o_O
Still it was fun watching him battle Trunks and Goten. Also, Kuririn cosplaying as Piccolo never gets old. XD

Bleh on Brolli in Movie 11. That was just ridiculous. Making a clone and turning him into a swamp monster.

There was some fun Juuhachigou and Mark interaction, but other than that, meh.

I find the responses in the threads concerning Broli very insulting. Look I am a Broli fan (he is my third favorite character) for the simple reason is that I am a fan of Marvel’s Hulk also I think his design is unique and he in my opinion Broli fits the description of a genuine Super Saiyan (according to Vegeta, Freeza and Ginyu). Then sometimes fans might like a little mindless violence in their anime. Is there anything wrong with that? People on here seem to forget that not every Dragonball fan views the show in the same manner. It comes across as if someone likes Broli as a character the individual are “dumb, over-excited, slobbering 12-year-olds” according to one comment. With comments like this, does any one have to wonder why this forum is viewed as being full “Elitists”?

Not liking a character is one thing but insulting the fans is something else entirely. Everyone knows I dislike the Kakarrot and Son Gohan characters but I do not think I ever insulted their fans just because they like them.

I've always wondered where has this forum gotten that reputation? On what other forums has Daizex been called "full of elitists" I'm really just curious because I don't lurk around many other Dragonball forums.

Because it's probably the most reputable DB fan-site around, everyone assumed it's full of people who really know their stuff, which it is. And people associate knowing your stuff with being a bit arrogant about knowing your stuff.

Anyway, I don't like Broli because of his wasted back story. It could have something much better than "Goku cried next to him as a baby so he turned out mental". I first cam across Broli in the games, and since there was no explanation for him, other than the title of Legendary Super Saiyan and the fact that he seemed to hate Goku, I assumed he was born and raised as some kind of Messiah because he was a Super Saiyan. I thought he hated Goku because Goku had become a Super Saiyan as well, and Broli thought that he was the one true Legendary Super Saiyan, so he was gonna stamp out anything that suggested otherwise.

Which honestly is a much better story, and my mind just cobbled that together without really thinking about it.

Yes, Broli simply sucks, terrible character, laughable backstory.. and just.. ugh, his design. I mean, he's ok until he.. hulks out.

I only insult Broly fans when they say that he could fight an SSJ2 or above and win.

This! This is my opinion of Broly and the movies as well. I think he is a neat character with a pretty tragic back story. However I think in all honesty, as fun as movie 10 was, they should have left it at 8. 10 was fun but that was the movie that defined him as a big dumb muscle brute. In movie 8, he was basically a caged beast who, when let out, could be really deadly.

The reason I liked 10 was because they took everything serious in 8 and just made fun of it. This savage beast who kicked the crap out of Goku and put Vegeta in fear was now getting pissed on by a child.

As for the games, I find it HILARIOUS that they always pair Broly up with Gogeta. I know Broly isn't that strong(he was beat at SSJ1) but I think its really funny to think that Toei holds him up to be this ultimate monster when really he's not all that special past the Cell saga.

If you are going to be mad at someone, don't be mad at the fans, or the character, Be mad at Bandi and Toei the people that put him up against Gogeta and SSJ3 Goku as if he stands a chance.

Like I stated above, I'm apathic about Brolly and I certainly wouldn't go as far as to disparage Brolly fans. But the thing is....you can't deny that it's mainly the ''shonen'' demography that is highly attracted to Brolly. Companies that create new products for Dragonball know that kids love these characters and have absolutely no problem to use that to there advantage. Like Rocketman put it elegantly

I just don't want that. I don't want people to think about a stupid quote when I mention Dragonball or big guys with big muscles who can tear apart the space-time continuum.

I liked movie 8, i Just think Broli's potential as a character is wasted. It's a good backstory up the point where Goku crying drives him mad. The whole being betrayed by the King and secret murder and fear of the Super Saiyan stuff is a great set up, but it's wasted. There should have been a split in the Saiyan ranks. Those who agreed with the King that Broli was too big a danger and needed to be dealt, and those who believed he would be their saviour. The group who believed in Broli would have been exiled, or fled with the baby after his attempted murder or something, and established a new Planet Vegeta with Broli as their God.

Then when they hear Freeza has been defeated by a Super Saiyan, Broli would be really pissed off and go searching for him to prove his dominance and cement himself as THE Super Saiyan.

I think Broli was a decent villain in movie 8, but he was awful in 10 and 11. He went from actually forming complete sentences in movie 8 to only screaming "KAKAROTTO!" in movies 10 and 11. Had Toei stopped with just one Broli movie I probably wouldn't hate the character as much. His obsessive fanboys are annoying, but I rarely encounter them since I rarely discuss Dragon Ball on other forums.
