Our dear webmaster does have some eccentricities with names, but that's just with ones that were entirely made up my people half a world away fifteen years later. I've never seen someone get flagged for using actual accepted names for the character- and Kakkarot is one of those names.

Does the character like that name much? No. But it's an accepted name for him from the original source, and people shouldn't be harassed for using it if that's just the name they're familiar with. It's not really a big deal o_O

Son Goku has always been one of my favourite characters. I don't see how you can dislike the guy, he's just always so light-hearted and likes to see the brighter side of things. Of course, he has his foolish moments, which have already previously been said. He's a bit naive and dumb at times, but when you think about his upbringing, he's bound to be like that, since he grew up without an education. Which makes me wonder - how long exactly was Grandpa Son Gohan with Goku for? I mean, Roshi at least educated Goku a bit when they were training. Gohan didn't really teach Goku much in terms of education, unless you count "Don't look at the moon and go on a murderous rampage as a giant ape". And as we know, that advice didn't do much for his social skills.

But my final word is what's already been said.

"Gouku" isn't a valid romanisation. The "o" isn't supposed to be extended.

No, it is not. Gokuu is written ごくう. Were there an 'う' after the 'go' then you would be correct, but there is not.

As already stated, 'uu' can be written as 'uh', or 'û' (which I usually use for 'Son Gokû').

That would make it a might bit hard to take you seriously, and on a message board, that's a little something people need to do, otherwise the idea of discussion...would be a bit moot.

Not to mention it's not very polite to erroneously teach the less than informed such is an acceptable spelling.

While I can only speak for myself, I know that if Mr. EX has an issue with his spelling, he will likely put a word filter for "Gouku". That happened with me when I (intentionally) spelled Kanzenban as "kanzenban".

Not all of us are like that. Some are just trying to imitate a certain other person because they think it makes them look like "the REEL DBZ FANZ". Yeah this is why I hate the internet. Because y'know you're clearly not worth listening to if you don't precisely preserve the awesome names of characters from an 80's cartoon show.
