Budokai GC ports quality.

Post by Gouki » Sat Jan 08, 2005 1:10 am

So. What are they like. Budokai 1 and 2 were both ported to the GC (at least 1 was, I've seen it here in plenty of stores), so, does anyon have any opinions on the port?

And does the PAL version have the Japanese voice track like the PS2 version did?
... Maybe later.

The graphics in Budokai 1 were significantly enhanced from PS2 to GameCube. I have only seen screen shots of Budokai 2 on GC, but it seems they managed to polish the graphics once again. I can't wait to see Budokai 3 on GC.

Budokai 1 was great! it looked overall sharper, but more than the graphics i was more happy/impressed by how fast the loading is on the Cube... the PS2 loading time drive me up the fucking wall!

This is good. I may have to investigate number 2 then when it comes out. But, how do they play on the GC (especially 2, I've heard number 1 is pretty poor), and compared to Budokai 3?

Well, we'll have to wait before we get three with that exclusivity deal Sony signed with Atari/Bandai. So I might just get 2 to hold you over.

And personally, character line-up wise I'm preferring 2 over 3. XD *not fond of GT*

But doesn't 3 have everyone from 2 as well?

It has all the regular characters, but left out certain fusion characters:

Gotan (Goku + Mr. Satan + Potara)

Yamhan (Yamcha + Tenshinhan + Fusion Dance)

Super Boo + Vegeta

Super Boo + Freeza

Super Boo + Cell

Super Boo + Tenshinhan & Yamcha

GC B2 includes some things that were exclusive to PS2 Dragon Ball Z 2. A few extra costumes... Cell Game Tournament rules.. and some extra capsules... that's about it, though. I mean, other than the slightly polished graphics. Of cours, B3 tops that...
Because Kaio-Ken just doesn't cut it anymore.

Super Boo + Vegeta

Those aren't so great but still a loss.

Gives me a reason to keep Budokai 2 after Budokai 3 I guess. (Definately not for Dragon World.)

Any chance the GC port of Budokai 2 will be released in Japan? It would be noticably easier to import GC games than PS2 ones, simply because the GC has such a simple method for playing imported games.
SJ Dragonball Graphic Novel, Volume 9, page 60. That is all.

It probably will. >.> Don't see a reason why Bandai wouldn't want to release it over there.

I would've liked Dragon World more than Budokai 3's story mode if you could save mid-board. As it stands, the irritatingly long loading times (On the PS2 version, anyway) combined with the repetitive battles made each board a long experience. Still, I felt the flying around in Budokai 3 was a waste of time, and Dragon World's system is at least somewhat interesting...
