Let's assume, for argument's sake, you dislike Dan Dan.

That's no excuse for defending "Step Into the Grand Tour". That song is utter dreck. And yes, I would take the worst NSync song over that any day. It is the 4Kids One Piece rap all over again (or did that come first?). It really is the height of "We don't give a shit."

By the way, I don't see how it's really anything like a typical boy band song.

Listen to those lyrics, for guys have it in mp3 on the way to work it¨s totally gay.....

Field Of View is probably one of those bands that girls are used to listen and it's their major audience

Lyrics translation:

Bit by bit My heart is charmed
With that dazzling smile
Let's flee from the endless darkness Hold my hand

You see, when I met you
I remembered the view which I had treasured when I was a child
Won't you dance with me

The winding road of light and shadows Even now, you're dreaming of him?
There are times when it seemed like I wanted to turn back but
Holding love, courage, and pride, I shall fight

Bit by Bit My heart is charmed
A piece of hope in this world
Anyone surely wants to have eternity in his hands
Even if I pretend not to mind at all
Hey Even if he has a crush on you
Let's flee from the endless darkness Hold your hand

Also tired of angry faces
I also like you
I wonder if it's all right to live such a harried life
As for me... Spun around

By casual gestures Sea Side Blue Or are you still dreaming of him
I had something more I wished to ask but
Our conversation just goes like the sound of car wheels dancing around

Bit by Bit My heart is charmed
Even one's self is wonderful
Something's there I suddenly feel like calling you
Even if I pretend not to mind at all
In the end all I see is you
Let's flee towards the sea Hold my hand
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel

Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.

I didn't say that. It's a decent song, it just has nothing to do with Dragonball at all, much less GT unless there's something very wrong going on in that spaceship.

I don't like the rapping portion of the song much, but the general beat and the the early on "time is running out!" work just fine.
By the way, I don't see how it's really anything like a typical boy band song.
[cut out lyrics since the above post had them]

Other than the bits where the translation breaks down (Sea Side Blue?), I don't see how it's not. Maybe a bit higher brow than the usual boyband fodder, but still.

The Grand Tour song is better as an instrumental. And while I could care less for it or GT in general, there is a point that there are some anime dubs with theme music changes that are better than the original Japanese. For example:

TF Galaxy Force Japanese theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIAH0gOt6hk

TF Galaxy Force English theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7vANG3VOeM

Gotta go with the English one.

If you have distaste for Dan Dan's role because its 'peppy love-song' style doesn't seem to fit with the story... Just think of it as a declaration of love from Toei's writers to Goku.

Suddenly, it's entirely appropriate for all of GT.

Wow really? I have no emotional connection to these shows whatsoever and I still find the Japanese one to be better.

Actually...that does make a TON of sense.

Most anime theme songs have little to do with the content of the show. You think "We Were Angels" has a lot to do with DBZ?

"Dan Dan" is a good song, especially compared to "Step into the Grand Tour". I could, myself, come up with a better song than that one.

Though, I am a (currently unemployed) writer. I probably could.

I agree with Penguintruth. I'm trying, but I honestly can't think of a single redeeming quality of Step Into the Grand Tour.

Though was in community college at the time, just liked the beat, but not the lyrics. Kinda like how some instrumental theme songs don't need lyrics.

It's even worse than that weird techno-rock intro to the TV specials:

For the most part. Yes. The script was pretty much accurate and with the Season Sets we got the original score. So, yes.
Looking for trouble? No, I'm looking for debate. It's why discussion forums exist, is it not? I'm assuming Mike didn't put this board here so everyone could agree with each other all the time.
What I mean is, choose your words carefully. When it comes to Dub/Subs debates there's a fine line between debate and flame war. Don't give sparks by saying that the DBZ Dub isn't DBZ. Despite the changes, the storyline it's self is the same. It's telling the same story.

Do I have to use the Robotech/Macross example again?

Gozar's right about that. There's 'making a point,' and then there's 'being insulting.'

And I do agree that GT probably had the best dub FUNi's given any DragonBall series (at least now that it uses the original music and kickass dubbed OPs/EDs). Woefully poetic that such treatment would go to the worst of the three.
