What English Dubs Aired in Your Country?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

What English Dubs Aired in Your Country?

Post by linkdude20002001 » Tue Nov 10, 2009 12:44 am

I'm sure you all know that there have been many English dubs produced throughout the world for Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, the TV specials, and the movies.

Well, I've heard that in some countries, TV stations would switch back and forth between different dubs each day. For example: I've heard that in the Philippines, some days they would air the Filipino English dub and some days FUNimation's English dub. Or at least, that's what I've heard on some Filipino forums.

My question is: What English dubs aired in your country? (Excluding the US)

If you would like to see a list of every English dub, click here (Please note that I just guessed with what countries I have already listed).

And what country would that be? ^-^

Also, which FUNi dub? The Ocean Group one or their current one?

Saban US dub on Cartoon Network, but nobody was watching that, because we were watching German and French dub here.

Arigato!

The French dub? Haha! The opening is so annoying! It gets stuck in my head and doesn't leave... >_<

Yeah, it was crazy..... every day after school: Draghon Boool Zed! Blah blah, blah blah blah blah.......

I'll never understand how are Frenchies reading the words)))

But I think that french dub wasn't that bad, also for Saint Seiya, French sounded well in anime......

I just heard the ending on YouTube... Why is it so much BETTER?! It should've been the opening. Lol.

And what is wrong with me?? I derailed my own topic! :P

Anyways, that's very interesting... I wouldn't've guessed that an English dub aired in the Czech Republic. Or the German dub... Or the French dub... :?

Germany is in neighborhood and France is nearby next to Austria, also in Poland there they aired French dub with Polish voice over, it's normal here to watch the TV channels of nearby countries (Germany, Poland, UK, France, Austria, Slovakia.... these are the channels you can watch here normally on TV alongside the Czech TV channels) and that US Cartoon Network aired via sattelite..... If you were watching DBZ at morning, it was after midnight here

Oh. That makes sense. In the US, there's Spanish on everything because we're right next to Mexico. And sometimes French too because we're also next to Canada. Though, I haven't seen any French channels. Maybe they exist and I just don't have them?

Yeah, but it's not that common nowadays, Czech republic went on digital broadcasting and shut off analog, so everything now is via sattelite, so you can watch almost anything now

If you live in one of the bordering states close to the border you'll sometimes get Canadian TV. My friend used to go to school up in Vermont and he was getting Canadian TV. So for those people they could have possibly seen the ocean dub...

Here in the Netherlands we had the Ocean dub and FUNimation dub switching back and forth for DBZ, and for GT we has a consistent Blue Water dub.

Our small DVD release had the Ocean dub. But only the Saiyajin saga was released on DVD here.

And of course the DBZ movies, which had the infamous "big green" dub.

Dank!

Did Dragon Ball air there too? And by "switching back and forth" did you mean during the Cell and Majin-Boo arcs it would switch between The Ocean Group and FUNimation?

I'm so jealous! I live in Washington and I never got Canadian TV channels. :(

Folks, it's been noted that the original poster (and the rest of us) know which dub aired in the US ^_~.

Well, I'm in Canada so I got the Ocean cast FUNi Dub of seasons 1 and 2 like the states, and switched to the In House Texan FUNi dub for season 3 like the states, but near the end of the Cell Games YTV switched back to the Ocean cast for the rest of Z.

If that's not inconsistent enough, we got the Canadian Blue Water dub of the original series and GT. Which aired simultaneously after Z had finished.

So basically if you took everything aired on Canadian TV and put it in the actual episode order, you'd go Blue Water, Ocean, FUNi, Ocean, Blue Water.
