For any who didn't know,
Naruto just passed it's 10th anniversary. To celebrate, there is a new art book out for Naruto. In it, there are many drawings by different manga-ka, congratulating Kishimoto and offering him advice.
The first pic is done by Kishimoto, drawing Naruto in Dragon World.
Second pic is Toriyama drawing characters in the world of Naruto

(Scans not mine)
I'm gonna look through the rest of the book for more Toriyama pics, I'll post them if I see em.

Wow, that's an impressive Shenlong! I must say, not much on Naruto's story for the most part, but boy can Kishimoto draw!
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I prefer Kishimoto's art style that he used in Part I of Naruto(He changed his style in time-skip, much like Toriyama changed his in the Z-portion of Dragon Ball), but he is still very talented.
There's also a part in the book with different messages from manga-ka to Kishimoto, I'm gonna try to find Toriyama's.

Those are sweet, man! I may just try to pick this up to see more, if it's not a limited release.
(It would also be super cool if you PMed me where you found these to get a look at Oda, Kubo, Amano, and Obata tributes.)

I'm not a fan of Naruto but these do look very nice.
I actually prefer Kishimoto's out of these two. I don't really like Toriyama's new art style.

This reminds me of the Kochi-Kame and One Piece Anniversary books! This is awesome! If you tell me where I can see the rest of the other mangaka's tribute images I'll love you forever!

These are so god damned awesome.
What exactly is this artbook? And where can I buy it?
And I thought the Naruto 10th Anniversary was on the 10th when Narutimate Accel 3 comes out.

In a ditch somewhere

I was pretty sure the manga started in November of 1999, meaning the anniversary would be over already. I could be wrong, though.

Amazingly, it first appeared as a one-shot in 1997! But yeah, the current manga run began in November of '99.

Why can't Kishimoto draw that well in the manga itself nowadays?
Regardless, both images are awesome.

Imagine how it would feel having Toriyama do art of your work...
My raction would probably be something like this:

Yo! Cal's the name. Nice to meet you!
Lover of all that is pure and fun in the worlds of Dragon Ball, Jim Henson and so forth!
3DS Friend Code 1418-7854-8786. I'm always playing Pokemon, so PM me yours for Friend Safari and battling! :D

Here's my translation.
"Kishimoto-kun, congratulations on the 10-year anniversary of Naruto's serialization. Ten years is incredible. You've shown the toughness needed to survive the demanding task of a weekly serialization, and for that you have my admiration. Your amazing series is as popular as ever, and on that note, best of luck to you!"
The text underneath Toriyama's Naruto sketch simply reiterates "Congratualtions on the 10-year anniversary of Naruto's serialization" from the note.

I always like to believe that writers/celebrities/etc I'm a fan of are actually really nice people... Toriyama seems to be one of the few who actually supports that.
Anyway, is Naruto more popular in Japan or in the west? I mean, it's hugely popular in the west, but I haven't heard much buzz about how popular it is in Japan.

It's second to One Piece overall on the popularity scale in Japan based on the manga sales. The TV adaptation doesn't fare so well, though.
I like both pics. Kishimoto did a surprisingly well drawn Shenlong that's pretty close to what Toriyama does. The Toriyama pics are pretty expected of his current style. I like the Toad design and the colors.
