Best video game soundtrack?
***If this belongs in the music section, please move appropriately***
Over the past decade, we've had quite a lot of video games fly our way, and more than anything, some damn good music! We've had blippy , rock, techno, orchestra, you name it. The video games have arguably covered more genre of music than the damn show did. We've had some pretty awesome compositions of music, no matter which game, and even if the game sucked, hey, at least the soundtrack was pretty good.
tl;dr
What is your favorite soundtrack from the video games, and why?
I'd have to personally say SuperSonic Warriors 2, nearly all the compositions on this game are a delight to listen to.

The Budokai series had really good music. I especially thought it worked fantastically with the first game's cut scenes. It really pushed every whimsical, action packed and humorous moment in the series.

Legend of Goku 2 had the best soundtrack b/c it was a US game that took songs from the US version of the show.

I can't really pick one game that I liked ALL the music from. But I will say that Mr. Yamamoto has a tenancy to compose the best damn menu music in the world. Of all the games I have played that he scored, every time that menu music boots up, I smile. I especially like Budokai 2 and Burst Limit's menu.
Budokai 2's has the whole funk rock thing going for it. Which is one of my favorite mix genres. There's a slappy funky bass and some heavy riffs to compliment it. Burst Limits is really heavy powerful bass with some horns in the lead. I can sing it any time.

The Super Butōden series. I've never understood the controls, so I can't play the game, but the music is great. Trunks' theme, Gohan's theme, et cetera. It's all so great.
Super Gokuh-Den has some great music too. One song in particular I swear is in FFVII!

Re: Best video game soundtrack?
I think Budokai 1 had the best soundtrack by far. I really dig the soundracks from Budokai 2 and 3, but Budokai 1 has this style of music I can't even explain properly. The best I can do is link to an example.

The Budokai games as a whole have awesome music, with Budokai 3 being a culmination of awesomeness with the more jazzy tunes.
Budokai Tenkaichi 2 also had an awesome soundtrack. The song playing during the intro in particular is awesome.
Y'know, it'd be cool if someone redid DBZ but with the music from Budokai 3 and BT2.

Re: Best video game soundtrack?
BT2's soundtrack is the only one that even approaches the awesomeness of the Budokai series'.
Budokai 2 had more jazzy and Budokai 3 had more rock, but both were still the best, as a whole, compared to all of the others.
I don't know what Yamamoto was on when he composed a lot of those tracks(Challengers, Wild Soul, Hand-in-Hand Fight, etc.), but I would like 2 bags.

I always thought that Budokai 3 had the more jazzy soundtrack. The main menu theme and the Capsule Corp theme specifically come to mind.

Re: Best video game soundtrack?
I can't pick the video game that I think had the best video game soundtracks, since not all of them I like.
I think the Budokai series had interesting soundtracks. I liked Budokai 1's soundtrack, which was diverse and interesting. I absolutely hated Sparking METEOR/BT3's soundtrack, though. Every song was the same generic rock music, save for a select few (the peaceful, battle-inappropiate ones).
DBZ Ultimate Battle 22 & Final Bout's soundtracks sounded cool too. I especially liked Majin Vegeta's theme music in DBZ UB22.

Legends
Everything else I've heard got tired fast, especially since they reused a lot of it. I'm talking about the first 3 Budokais, Shin Budokai 1, and Tenkaichi 1. I haven't played anything past or before those yet, or the Japanese versions of anything there (if they changed music or something).
Final Bout had 1 kickass song in it, but nothing else is as memorable to me as Legends' soundtrack. And I don't remember the soundtrack to the first LoG.
That's... all I got.

Totally, totally the "Budokai" game's soundtrack. The rocking guitars kept me playing. I remember going to Frys Electronics and sprinting to the PS2 section just to play Budokai 3. The sound blew me away, and the Tenkaichi Budoukai theme is amazing.
