Question about Goku & Grandpa Gohan
at what point (in DB or Z) does goku first realize he's the one who killed gohan? I've watched the whole of both series but don't remember.

There's a reason this place looks the way it does, and there's a reason why it's such a great place. Those two reasons rely upon each other.

That part's actually a little confusing in the dub, as from the dialogue it seemed that Goku was accusing Vegeta personally of doing all those things. Just poor wording on the dub script writer's part of course, not like that's a rarityTripleRach wrote:When Gokuu sees Vegeta transform during their fight in the Saiya-jin saga, he comes to the realization that he himself was the full moon monster that killed his grandpa, and busted up Pilaf's castle and the Budoukai hall.

After seeing Vegeta become all Ozaru, Son Goku put the pieces together, realizing it was a transformed Saiyan that killed his grandpa. So he came to the conclusion that since he himself was a Saiyan, and he was supposedly present during those times a supposed monster came about, he was the monster.

That was during the heavy censor days. Hopefully if the writers aren't extremely lazy, it will be changed back to the original for the redub. Besides, they already mentioned the truth about the situation on Dragon Ball.tealsmith wrote:That part's actually a little confusing in the dub, as from the dialogue it seemed that Goku was accusing Vegeta personally of doing all those things. I know, I've seen both series. I always found it strange though how Dragonball wasn't as censored as Dragonball Z (especially the final fight against Piccolo Jr, wow). But then I learned they dubbed DB after DBZ and it all made sense.Super Sonic wrote:That was during the heavy censor days. It's not surprising that they bungled up that part so badly in the dub. It's not like the later episodes are any better. I've only ever listened to bits and pieces of the dub on the DVDs and the acting is so bad that I would imagine that plenty of other plot points are missed. I don't want to start a huge sub/dub debate which I'm sure has been done plenty of times, but even If you absolutely hate the way the Japanese language sounds, I don't get how people can take the dub seriously after listening to that kiddy script and b-rate actors. The dub is simply not a good TV show. Period.
Sorry if that seems off topic, but I was just saying that the script hardly (if at all) got any better after those "heavy censor" days, and the same misunderstandings such as the one talked about here regarding Goku and Gohan happen the same way after Funi took everything over.

Yeah, I always thought it was kind of weird that Goku thought Vegeta did it in stead of the more obvious choice: him. But then again, maybe he would just not accept the truthtealsmith wrote:That part's actually a little confusing in the dub, as from the dialogue it seemed that Goku was accusing Vegeta personally of doing all those things. In the manga (the viz editions), Goku looks up, see's Oozaru-Vegeta and says "You killed my grandpa."
But then a few memmories later and Vegeta telling him the Oozaru is a Saiyans most powerful form, then Goku realises it was him who smashed up the martial arts tournament and killed his grandpa.
