The Dead Zone Re-Dub Question
In the insert for Brollys Second Comming, It has some text on up comming releases one of them being the Dead Zone. It says "Digitally remasterd with never-before seen footage"
How can this be? Typo?

Re: The Dead Zone Re-Dub Question
They're insane, that's how. "Remaster" ? Sure, whatever. But there's no additional footage we didn't get in the original release.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:In the insert for Brollys Second Comming, It has some text on up comming releases one of them being the Dead Zone. Steve was workin' on the translation, so that's as good a confirmation as anylost in thought wrote: or the 'Worlds Strongest' redub. (That is to say, if there will be one of Worlds Strongest.)

Thats good, I like Steve's work. The knowledge that there's actually production on the movie isn't lost on me either, since I like the first three movies far more than any that came after... and what's more I will be able to have three versions of each movie. heh.VegettoEX wrote:Steve was workin' on the translation, so that's as good a confirmation as any.
[I currently own the first three on Pioneer vhs/dvd, and I want them on FUNi dvd.]

*shrug* If they're saying that it has footage never seen on TV, they should word it that way. The original uncut US release of the movie was advertised as having "never-before seen footage" or some-such, except that it did have footage that hadn't been seen before in a US release (relatively uncensored though the edited version was).spikemcruffy wrote:Wasn't Movie 1 shown edited on TV once?
Maybe thats what they mean't by never before seen footage. Maybe just saying its uncut in a different way.
Applying the whole "Ultimate Uncut" thing to the theatrical movies just strikes me as really bizarre.

It would be really funny to bring a class-action lawsuit against them for false marketing. With which the result would be sending me more free stuff. Which would result in me finding more flaws with the products and making fun of them.
It's a really weird cycle.

If we did, we'd get lots of money and free shit! Kinda like the case against Blockbuster and the "End of Late Fees" thing.VegettoEX wrote:It would be really funny to bring a class-action lawsuit against them for false marketing. Highly unlikely. One of FUNimation's main goals is to distance themselves from the original dub and have fans only familiar with their own in-house voice cast (which, from a business standpoint, I honestly can't blame them for).Victator Supreme wrote:Are the original dubs going to be included on the new DVD's?
It would be sweet as Hell if they'd include an alternate track for these movies with the English dub and the original Japanese score (taking a hint from the original FUNimation/Pioneer release), but it'll be a cold day in Hell before that happens, I think.

It's quite likely. As far as the dispute between Icarus, and Higher Dragon goes, I was mulling it over a few days ago... and I thought of something, that gave the name Icarus a bit more meaning for the use.Super Sonic wrote:Another concern with the older stuff will be concerning Haiya Dragon. In the video dub of "Tree of Might" he was addressed as "Higher Dragon". However movies 4, 5, and the filler he appears in goes off the tv dub calling him Icarus. They'll probably call him Icarus again I take it.
Think of it this way, FUNimation could have kept such an androgynous sort of name, but then compare it to actually naming the dragon, they called him Icarus, which isn't all that obscure of a name, especially for a dragon, and with this- they actually name him, and give a little more depth to the character, that could possibly allow a better connection to the character.
It's like naming your dog, you don't name them "Lower Dog", or your cats "Lurking Cat", or birds "Chirping Bird", on the notion that giving them actual names can either A.) Make a closer relationship, and or B.) Make them seem more 'human' by comparison, and not so much a wild animal.

Why is Funimation so against using the original soundtrack?VegettoEX wrote:It would be sweet as Hell if they'd include an alternate track for these movies with the English dub and the original Japanese score (taking a hint from the original FUNimation/Pioneer release), but it'll be a cold day in Hell before that happens, I think.
