But the replacement of DBZ's score with generic rock music, complete with a haphazardly translated script isn't really something we want to remember, is it?
I think it was pretty justified.

If you're over 11 years old and you care whether Krillin says "Kienzan" or "Destructo Disc", something ain't working right in your head.
I fixed it for you.
Har har, sorry for caring, I only thought I joined a Dragon Ball forum.

It doesn't matter how much time passes, accuracy should beat nostalgia.

Sure, you could change Goku's name to George and he'd still be the same character, but that's not his fucking name.

It is again another historic time, where pengruintruth and I are on the exact same page.

Fixed. I also agree. Though, I never really had a problem with Vollmer's performance.

"What's a Goku?"

Everyone knows that his name is Zero and his best friend is Bongo.

I think I've seen that dub.

Name changes work best when it's necessary like in Sailor Moon R. Not so much in DB, though at times it's meh.

Why were name changes necessary in Sailor Moon R?

Allow me to shake my fist angrily at you in disagreement of this statement!
(I actually don't mind the Sailor Moon dub but I still don't think name changes are necessary, especially when they refused to be consistent with attack name changes.)

Anyway, do you think they decided who is voicing who as late as the Namek arc? I'm really curious as to whether or not Sabat is still going to be playing Recoome.

Sabat is just overall horrible in my opinion. His Vegeta is good, but only suits the older Vegeta. He did a pretty good Brian Drummond impression on that Ultimate Uncut trailerfor the younger Vegeta remember?

I don't like his Kami or Piccolo either. He's really good for Yamcha and Yajirobe though.

Oh shit, Pokemon Black version's name should be changed too. Talk about implying African American Pokemon are walking around all over the place. That's why they changed the Black Magician's name too! It's not like "Black Magic" was ever a term or anything. :P

Mr. Sabat didn't do Yajirobe. Mike McFarland did his voice.

That sounds as awful as his "Season Three" Vegeta voice... :x I wonder why they went that route with the "Ultimate Uncut" trailer, even though that wasn't the voice he used in that dub...

Maybe I'm crazy, but there's a significant difference in Horikawa's performance that you can go ahead and label the various ages of Vegeta as sounding different? Because I've never heard that.

And I happen to think Sabat's Piccolo, as it stands at this moment, with Kai, is the best voice of the main cast. Strait's Krillin a close second.

I've never been a big Sabat fan, but I'm definitely digging both his Vegeta and Piccolo for Kai in the clips I've heard.

Not really. Horikawa even sounds mostly the same for kid Vegeta's one or two lines in the Bardock Special.

I think you'll be really impressed with the more natural subtle performances he's brought around this time.

Not to mention he's saying just about everything he's supposed to. Honestly, I think once you watch a few episodes, or at least when more than like 30 second clips are available online, I think you'll actually find yourself satisfied from this dub.

Which is saying a lot, knowing you. :P

EDIT: I say the phrase "I think" way too much. But you get the idea. ;)

Am I the only person who doesn't think penguintruth has impossibly high standards? He has been heaping on the praise with this Kai dub so far. It seems his main beef is with Schemmel's Goku, and even though I don't always agree, I can certainly respect that.
