Combine this with what buttons do what other things in what other situations and you end up, not with depth, but with button gymnastics. "Triangle does this here, but this when you're over here, and this while in this situation, and this if you're pushing this button, and this if you're pushing this button while in this situation" is not depth but needless complication of something that should be far more simple. Multiple this by 8 buttons and multiple contexts and it just becomes absurd.
Ok, I was thinking "Wait, overly complex? WTFish?", until this came along.
This brings me to my big question on BT:
How the hell do you do all those different types of defenses?
How do you tele-dodge incoming attacks, or absorb supers with #19 and #20?
Is it a timing thing?
What button? What requirements? What.....
Can't it just be something a _little_ more distinct?
Like the counters in the Super Butoden series, except actually doable?
Ur, wait, what did I just get myself into?
... For the record, I don't really care so much for the Budokai games... but sometimes BT makes me o_o.
