A Question about the Spainish DVD Release

Hola!

Now, for those of you who know me, one thing I have always liked about the many foreign dubs of Dragon Ball were the dubs of songs that were produced in some of the countries it aired in. I've always thought the ones produced in other countries were actually well done, especially the Spainish and German ones. As it so happens, I'm going to the Catalonya area of Spain for a week this summer (July 6th to July 13th). I've been to that area before and already know what shops exist for selling Dragon Ball and other anime related products. So what I'm asking is, what releases from Selecta Visión include dubbed songs?

Last year, I purchased a single of Dragon Ball GT from the Spainish equivalent of a newsagent, which included episodes 40 to 42 but no dubbed songs, which is odd because I know GT had them. I have heard the movies included dubbed songs though so it's kind of confusing. Thanks in advance to those who reply!

I only have two Selecta Visión Releases: The first movies box (contains Z movies 1-8), and the last Z box (contains the last 42 episodes, I think). The movies box has dubbed songs in all languages, but the Z box doesn't. This is probably because the spanish airings had dubbed versions of Head Cha-La and Zenkai Power, but they never used We Gotta Power or Boku-tachi wa Tenshi Datta. Still, point remains.

Also, the Z box has the GT opening as a bonus, and it's in Japanese. So I guess for whatever reason, they must have decided to not use the dubbed Dan Dan on the GT sets.

Thanks for answering my question! Just out of interest, how many dubbed songs are there on the movie set? I know that Zenkai Power was in the first movie and Cha-La Head Cha-La as the opener to the first 8 but most of the movies had an original ending song, along with movies 2 to 4 containing insert songs.

Most ending songs are in Japanese, but Zenkai Power isn't, and I think Kimi ga HERO has a catalan dub (but not a spanish one).

- Spanish track: Spanish dub of Cha-La Head Cha-La, custom instrumental
- Catalan track: Catalan dub of Cha-La Head Cha-La, custom instrumental
- Basque track: Basque dub of Cha-La Head Cha-La, original instrumental (which sounds REALLY low quality, mind you)

Movie 1:
- Spanish track: Instrumental version of the Tenka'ichi Gohan insert song (original instrumental), Spanish dub of Zenkai Power (custom instrumental)
- Catalan track: Catalan dub of the Tenka'ichi Gohan insert song (original instrumental), Catalan dub of Zenkai Power (custom instrumental)
- Basque track: Basque dub of the Tenka'ichi Gohan insert song (original instrumental), Basque dub of Zenkai Power (original instrumental)

Movie 2:
- Spanish track: Instrumental version of the "Piccolo-san Daisuki" insert song (original instrumental) [with no dialogue or sound effects at all, btw, so I can get a clean rip of this if anyone wants one]
- Catalan track: Catalan dub of the "Piccolo-san Daisuki" insert song (original instrumental)
- Basque track: Basque dub of the "Piccolo-san Daisuki" insert song (original instrumental)
- ending song is in japanese in all audio tracks

Movie 3:
- Spanish track: Japanese ending song
- Catalan track: Catalan dub of the ending song (original instrumental)
- Basque track: Basque dub of the ending song (original instrumental)

Movie 4:
- Spanish track: Instrumental ending song (original instrumental)
- Catalan track: Catalan dub of the ending song (original instrumental)
- Basque track: Basque dub of the ending song (original instrumental)

Movie 5:
- Spanish track: Instrumental ending song (original instrumental)
- Catalan track: Catalan dub of the ending song (original instrumental)
- Basque track: Basque dub of the ending song (original instrumental)

Movie 6:
- Spanish track: Japanese ending song
- Catalan track: Catalan dub of the ending song (original instrumental)
- Basque track: Basque dub of the ending song (original instrumental), REALLY BAD AUDIO QUALITY

Movies 7 and 8: Every track has a japanese ending song.

So if you're looking for song dubs, the movies 1-8 set has 18 of them :P

Actually Catalan & Basque ending songs do exist. It's just likely that the DVD authors couldn't find the dubbed versions, so they just went with the Japanese.

Wow, thank you very much for replying! According to zonadvd, the set should be selling for around 40 euros (Can't seem to find any other website that lists it for a higher price) and since I have always wanted to see the movies in which Coola starred in, this sounds like the ideal box set for me!

One more question though. Do any other Selecta Vision releases contain dubbed songs? I was able to get a single of three different shows released by them (Paranoia Agent, Saint Seya and Escaflowne) and none of them included any dubbed songs (Although Saint Seya included the... original French song in Spainish ><). While I do assume that songs weren't made for those shows because of their content, I do wonder about others, like Detective Conan. Detective Conan is released by Jonu, not Selecta Visión. It has dubbed songs in the Galician track, and japanese songs in all the others.

e.g. Galician Detective Conan OP1, Mune ga Doki Doki.

There IS an European Spanish dub of Pegasus Fantasy, but it was made only for Animax's broadcast, I believe.
