That would certainly explain the recurring raspiness in Vegeta's voice.

Here's 'John Wayne' Kelamis. :p God, his child Gokû voice has the same affect!! O.o

Peter Kelamis' Gokū is the only voice for the character that I've actually laughed at mockingly. Well, there was the "Big Green" dub Gokū.......

Of course it does, Sean is such an epic fail that even inhaling his bodily emissions causes said person to be an epic fail. Sabat's uneven Vegeta is a result of Schemmel's farting, it's the only logical conclusion to reach and makes perfect sense when you think about it for 49 minutes.

In other news, Death to Sean Schemmel.

Hmm... Why haven't they uploaded episode 33 yet? Hope this doesn't become the norm...

People need to stop using clips from the Westwood Media dub as examples of why Kelamis' Gokuh sucks. 'Cause pretty much everyone sucked in that dub. Now, if you show me clips from a dub that was handled with care, your criticism will actually be worth something. The three movies would be a good choice.

MR.Mark wrote:More so with Ayres, though with most of his recent performance, there's no doubt he's male. Newstone always sounded like a women, creepy at times, but still a women, and still wrong for Freeza.
That is one of my criticisms of Chris Ayres' Freeza. Sometimes he switches tone and deepens it. It's only done for a few seconds or so but it is inconsistent with most of his voice work for first form Freeza. He should save the masculine voice for Freeza's transformations and concentrate on keeping his androgynous voice consistent for the first form.

Newstone's Freeza does not sound like a woman to me. Nor was her voice wrong for Freeza. I cannot understand how you can praise Ayres' Freeza so much while doing the opposite for Newstone. Yes Ayres brings in some Nakao qualities but there's no escaping the fact that he and Newstone sound very similar, even if at times there's a difference in line deliveries. If I didn't know who Freeza's new voice actor was in FUNi's Kai dub from beforehand, I would not have had trouble believing it was voiced by a woman, based on some of the screams. That's not a bad thing though.
linkdude20002001 wrote:I've heard from the voice actors that it was rushed. I can't remember which actor, but I do remember it being quite rushed. More so than FUNimation's dub even. And the show was dubbed in about two years time, while FUNi's in about four.
A voice actor on Funi's Kai dub said that their Kai dub is rushed, yet it doesn't feel as rushed as their Z dub.

Maybe the Westwood/Ocean dub may have been a bit rushed at the start because they were behind Funimation. Even in that saga, it didn't feel rushed at all, that's one of the beauties of the Ocean dub. The FUNimation dub of the Cell Games aired while Ocean was still in either the Imperfect or Perfect Cell Saga. Ocean caught up with Funi soon enough.

You're comparing how long it took Funi to dub the Ginyu-Kid Buu episodes with how long it took Ocean to dub the Android-Kid Buu episodes. I know that Ocean were dubbing right up to the end of 2002 because a voice actor confirmed they finished around December 2002 or January 2003. The dub started dubbing in 2000, so it could've been 2 and a half years or 2 and three quarter years.

The FUNimation dub was more rushed. I distinctly remember at times the voices not even matching the mouth flaps in Funi whereas they matched in Ocean.

I heard Sean said he once farted in the booth before Laura Bailey had to use it.

So you didn't laugh mockingly at Sean Schemmel's season 3 Goku, even when some of us had a laugh by bringing up a few from his many ridiculous deliveries?

Out of the Gokus from Ocean and FUNimation, Sean's season 3 is by far the worst. I've not even seen a hardcore FUNimation fan try to defend Funi's season 3.
linkdude20002001 wrote:People need to stop using clips from the Westwood Media dub as examples of why Kelamis' Gokuh sucks. 'Cause pretty much everyone sucked in that dub.
Drummond's "The Saiyan prince will not fall again!!!!" sucked?

McNeil's powerup against Imperfect Cell (fight 2) sucked?

Dale Wilson's "You can't jusy say 'I give up' and expect to walk away" sucked?

Monica Stori's grief at Gohan's "death" sucked?

I could bring many examples/illustrations of awesome line deliveries/handled scenes in the Westwood Studios/Ocean dub. To say that everyone "sucked" without providing so much as a single example/illustration is disrespectful to Ocean's industry veterans who worked so hard on the DBZ dub.

You're not gonna get anywhere arguing subjective opinions Razor. If linkdude thinks they suck, he thinks they suck. You're not gonna convince him of anything. Deal with it.

This thread is not about your little pissing contests with dubs of DragonBall Z. Enough.

That was intentional, it's called acting, something every Dragon Ball dub lacked up until Kai.

Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes, that dub was rushed beyond belief and at times made Funi's DBZ dub seem professional, that alone is insane to think about.

This topic is about Kai anyway so can we stop debating about those other worthless dubs?

I'm not a hardcore FUNimation dub fan and I hate Season 3, but at least it was better than the Westwood dub. Sean Schemmel's voice acting in Season 3 was horrible, but at least it wasn't humorous like Peter Kelamis' Kid Gokū voice and his overacted lines like: "Urrhg leave... these people... alone... GUH!"

Yet again you failed to read the post or didn't understand it. It seems to me your only contribution to this discussion is "Liek OMG U IZ deLusional!!!"

He said people need to stop providing clips of the Westwood dub because he thinks they suck. He thinks they suck, that's his view. But if someone wants to provide clips of the Westwood dub, there's nothing wrong with that.

Yes, exactly. If he had the exact same tone all throughout, then it would be a flat and completely unconvincing performance.

My main problem is that his changes in tone sound like complete balls to me.
