The best part:

Goku: Oh, look, it's Namek! Oh, nevermind, it's fake.

I laughed so hard.

Also, everything with Freeza was awesome.

Eh, it was an okay episode. I hope TFS is finished with all the innuendos, it's getting a bit old. Has anyone else noticed how sexual season 1 is, compared to season 2? Not saying that it's necessarily a bad thing, I just prefer season 1 due to that. Anyway, I hope the next episode is better, especially considering it's the arrival of the Ginyū Tokusentai.

"KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!" I always love Bulma's moments like this in DBZ: Abridged.

I was surprised that the episode was on Youtube before their website. Then again there is no rule that says otherwise but I usually check the site first. By the way, kudos to Mike "VegettoEX" for voicing Appule. I totally did not recognize it was him at first until I checked the cast list (Takahata101 is missing for his Nappa cameo though).

P.S. I wish I had a limitless supply of henchmen that I could dispatch violently in order to avoid awkward conversations. :(

From the moment Appule spoke to now, I was trying to figure out if it was Mike or not... my first impression was "Hmm, it could be... but... I... can't... tell...!".

"My power is maximum".

Has to be one of my favourite episodes so far. I was dying the Ginyu scene.

However, Appule... I have to say, I never would have thought you guys at TFS could be such shitty voice actors. I know it's just a minor character, but come on, that was almost unbearable whoever did it. Couldn't you have gotten a guest in to voice him or something?

And what is it he says when he's playing METEOR? "This one's for *something*!", and I think he says it again as he's dying: "Here I come, *something*".

But, Appule WAS a guest voice. VegettoEX voiced Appule, I thought he did just fine, not bad for a first attempt at Voice Acting (I'm assuming). Yeah, I couldn't hear those parts you mentioned either, but I think the sound effects we just a bit too loud there.

I'm fairly sure The Tori-bot was being facetious :P.

Incidentally, are you gonna update your Appule blog post with this juicy tidbit? :P

I hope I'm not the only one who realized the irony of Mike using a 'character voice' to voice Appule, though. :P

Ah, now I feel stupid. That's what I get for not being able to detect sarcasm through text.

I agree you should add that to the blog post.

Appule was hammering on Bardock on the game. He said something like "that's for my brother Pierre." The guy Bardock killed in the special who said "TELLMYBRotherappuleilovehim" as he was plummeting to certain fate. Pierre is a pun on Pear.

I thought VegettoEX's Appule voice was very fun. 8)

I loved the whole mystery regarding Zarbon's sexuality. He spoke about a girlfriend but still when Vegeta was healing there were doubts, even though he was shocked about Vegeta insinuating that he did stuff to him when he was in the tank.

My favorite part was:

Bulma: "I want to strap him down and do a sixty-!"
Goku: "-nine, seventy, seventy-"
Vegeta: "-ONE!!..."

Nice method of faux censorship. :P

Innagadadavida's basically got it. I didn't get the joke at first, either... and I don't feel bad, because even the TeamFourStar folks mis-wrote it first...

(Hopefully Kaiser doesn't mind me sharing this brief story :P)

The guy Appule references is "Eechpay" (not sure what spelling they like; it's a rearranged "Peach" for a fruit pun), who is the one that gets killed and references Appule's name as he plummets back in their dub of the Bardock special... thus, Appule beating the crap out of Bardock in the Sparking! METEOR footage (speaking of which, props to Innagadadavida for helping provide that!).

Thing is, per the script, I originally recorded the line referencing "Pierre" (play on "Pear") until... I forget who Kaiser said noticed it first... that was the wrong character :P. Went back and re-did those two lines.

I had a really fun time doing this. I'm no voice actor, for sure. I'm open to criticism and complaints and whining about the performance, though. If I can dish it out, I can take it. If you have any complaints, though, it's because I did a better take on it and Kaiser used the wrong one and you can blame him and I'm actually really talented and trained for months and oh my god my fragile heart can't take this please universally love me or I might jump out this second story window.

Ah! That's why I didn't hear it right. Appule says "Eachpay" and not "Pierre." I was juts repeating what KaiserNeko told me. Which apparently, was before the error was fixed.

At the end when Appule dies he says "Here I come Eachpay."

You'd have to follow extremely close to get that joke. I don't believe anyone would pick it up without a little direction.

This episode was the first time I've honestly laughed since the first season.
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

I think it works on a couple levels. If you don't know what he's saying, it's funny just 'cuz it's Appule playing a video game. If you do get the reference, you're a superfan!

It's pretty clear you have little experiece. Like Kaiser's Kaiô earlier on, it is/was a little hard to understand the dialogue, but that's something to chalk up to likely little-to-no practice time to create the character's range. The performance completely lacked your trademark assertiveness, in other words it sounded like you recognized you were out of your element. Baring in mind that you have two hundred podcast episodes under your belt rather than two hundred acting credits, it felt like "Mike in a totally new context."

I'd have to wonder how you'd improve were the role more recurring, but short of introducing an off screen twin brother I don't think we're going to here your Appule ever again...:(

Appule was the funniest part of the episode. Great job!
