Meri was the one who stated on the podcast that she found that scene in Burst Limit absolutely horrendous, and she's perfectly entitled to have that opinion.

And yes, "Son" was pronounced wrong.

Mispronunciation aside, Schemmel-Goku's parts in that cutscene were still pretty good. It was nice to hear that particular Goku voice FINALLY giving a decent version of that speech. Young-Freeza ruins the whole thing though.

One thing I hope, though, is that Schemmel uses his SSJ3/4 voice to show how much Goku's changed.

I can't wait for the episode where Gohan goes SSJ2.

I know FUNi won't screw it up again with that horribly misplaced dialouge.

Is she really though? She only heard it once in passing, made a snap judgment without any thoughts or consideration on the matter, and never thought about it again.

I could say that Lady Gaga is absolutely horrendous, but I know nothing about her and have heard less than one song of hers. I wouldn't take my opinion on that seriously.

Apparently the podcast at Daizenshuu EX brought up how they hated the dub of this scene in the game. I was shocked to hear that, I just had a huge smile on my face when I heard this. I also remember being a little ticked when I heard that they hated this scene because I think of sub fans as a borderline-unsatisfiable group sometimes (when it comes to the dub, I mean). I mean, I totally understand how they would be angry with the stupid "Hope of the Universe," scene because I hate the writing for that scene as well, but then you give them the scene with the original script verbatim, with significantly better acting, and they're still not happy. I remember thinking, "How could you not be happy? I'm freaking elated right now!"
I thought that scene was awesome aswell. I really can't see how anyone would be dissapointed with that delivery, even if you dislike Sean Schemmel as Gokū.

The first episode with Majin Buu, I hope they didn't change his voice in any form.

What is wrong with a passing, first-glance opinion on something? That's just as valid, albeit in a different way, as one with years of research and in-depth comparisons.

If someone (say, Meri) honestly thought it was that bad hearing it for the first-go... well, she thought it was awful. Why is that so difficult for you to get past?

No, you don't have to take the comment "seriously". At all. That's fine. She's allowed to think it's awful, and I'm allowed to think it's awful. Because we think it is. And there are reasons why we think it is.

You're allowed to think we're delusional idiots who look for every opportunity to rag on something related to FUNimation's English dub of the series, even when someone specifically asks us about something very specific and asks for our very specific thoughts on it.

I agree, but Ayres-Freeza will make up for it. I'm REALLY looking forward to some of his scenes with Goku, and with Vegeta as well.

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm wondering how Travis Willingham will do as Cell now that Dameon Clarke isn't coming back. Yet another villain re-cast. Not as significant as Freeza's recast, to be sure, especially since we've heard some of his work as Cell already and he took the character in a very similar vocal direction as Clarke did. Still, with the better writing, it'll be interesting.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I heard the new VA for Cell in one of the video games recently and could not tell the difference. I knew going in that the VA had changed so I really listened. When I heard it I started questioning my own information. The first two forms are probably not that hard to imitate because I guess they would be so-called "character voices" but the final form is more human. It sounds more like a dude talking and not a dude imitating a bug monster. I guess we will see. I hope Travis does more of an original take. So far the imitation voices in Kai have been awful (Oolong).

Yeah, I hope that if Travis does do a Clarke impression, that it's all mostly based off of Perfect Cell's voice, so that the inconsistency in the games created by the dub's multiple voices is rectified.

This maybe just the Dub but when Goku teleports down to rescue Tien and Piccolo from Cell, Goku says something about fighting the next day and Cell says something along the lines of waiting to fight Goku and his quote ends with "And all you can say is 'See you tomorrow'". That was my favorite @nd form Cell line, so I hope it's still in.

I want to hear dub Super Buu and dub SSJ3 Goku (especially seeing if he can top the original funi scream). And Vegetto/Gotenks.

It's actually quite funny listening to Linda try and act. All she does is shake her voice "I actually thought I was going to... ddddie!".
I cringe every time.

Agreed. Also, I found a clip of Raging Blast where she did one of Freeza's most famous lines. "I'll show you a terror greater than Hell." Yeah, didn't sound right. I'm still supporting the change to Chris Ayres. No offense to Mrs. Young, but Freeza, eh. Not really suited for her.
