Good god this is horrible. Sean's & Vic's versions are a million times better than this trash. As far as who the singer is, it may be Justin Cook but even that is a guess.

Yeah, at first I couldn't tell and thought it was Justin Houstin, one of FUNimation's go to male singers. (Did GT Ending 4, Ouran's Ending, etc.)

But, I can totally see where you guys are getting Justin Cook from.

I second Jacob's comment about a Chris Sabat attempt. Especially, if FUNimation will keep changing singers on us.

Edit: Actually I take it back. I just listened to Sean's again. Sean's is better.

Wow that person who sang Dragon Soul was terrible. They should have just put Vic's version of Dragon Soul on the DVD/Blu-ray versions. I hated Sean's performance on Part 1 but compared to this third version this sounds plain terrible.

Oh my god, what did you do to Dragon Soul. Jesus Funimation, this is absolutely terrible.

Listen to the echo of "Energy" LOL, this entire version is 100% crap.

Hmm... this version is an odd beast. I mean I think the singer is competent but the delivery feels forced and bland. The echos are also terrible. Sure Schemel's auto tuned to hell but at least he's trying.

They should have just gotten Vic to sing. Just don't give him a cup of Joe before it.

Wait, if this is Justin Cook singing and they approved this version. Wouldn't be Justin approving it since he's the Head Producer (if I remember correctly)?

I feel the same way. There's something competent to it. There's something of the quality to the voice that might have been good, but it just sounds so strained, forced, and... well, yeah, bland.

God that's just embarrassing. What are you thinking FUNimation?

Between the inconsistent naming conventions, inconsistent art, and poor choices in regards to the opening, I'm significantly less excited about this set. I'll wait 'till it's on sale before I pick it up. :(

I'm probably the only one likes Justin's opening, all the while I'm avoiding getting hit in the face with people saying I don't know what music or singing is.
But honestly there's just something about it, it DOES feel forced at times through the song, but otherwise I feel like Justin was actually trying and they didn't autotune him up like Sean's version.

Don't let it stop you, dude.

The scripts and acting of the uncut version really make up for it, I promise.

A lot of lame "dub-isms" have been removed in favor of actual mention of death and swearing.

People criticized the Freeza "he had to go bye-bye" line, but in the set he says "and since I've never been one to take bad news well, I'm afraid I killed him." The line is also delivered perfectly, btw... I love Chris Ayres. There's probably 50 other examples I could mention.

I don't regret the purchase at all.

I'm not going to let it stop me. I really really like the Kai dub. I'm super excited to add it to my collection. But I'm just saying, that these are some obvious errors. Anyone with ears can hear how bad that opening is. Why did they allow this to be published? It's embarrassing. I'm still going to get the set, its just moved a few notches down on my priority list.

This thing is fan-made, right? This is just some fan who sung the song *horribly*, slapped it on the Dragon Soul animation, and threw it up on YouTube! Right? Right....?

My God, it's real. Thank you Funimation, I'm gonna have nightmares for a week now!

EDIT: I heard earlier that this set defaults to the new version. PLEASE tell me I'm wrong. :(
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

I really could imagine these guys singing Dragon Soul for some reason. I don't know why but I'd like them to sing Dragon Soul. Here's a song by them in case you're interested.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

From FUNi's Twitter:
FUNimation wrote:DBZ Kai viewers: each DVD release will have a different singer featured on the opening song. So far has been Sean Schemmel and Justin Cook.

I really like that idea. It'll be a little extra interesting thing every DVD volume.
