Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
If he's ever in a movie, Danny Trejo must play him.

If Lee Van Cleef still was alive, he would have been the most perfect fit for Tao Pai Pai:

Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
Tao Pai Pai is one my favorite Dragon Ball villains. I don't like how he was almost kill by a bomb, but surrive Goku's kamehameha? I always thought he was almost killed by a bomb since he was weaken after fighting Goku.

He's always reminded me of Betty from Kung Pow.

Or, does Betty remind you of TaoPaipai? Ooooh... XDringworm128 wrote:He's always reminded me of Betty from Kung Pow.
Hm, while the riding on a pillar thing is cool, it... doesn't seem to make much to any physical sense...
I mean, if he can jump quickly enough to land on it, isn't he jumping faster than it anyway, thus making it unnecessary? *Head explodes*

Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
And why waste valuable energy on something so unoriginal as perhaps flying? Everyone knows a man using a pillar as a transportational device is much more terrifying, than simply using the technique to dance in the skys(a silly name btw).Godo wrote:It's all about aerodynamics, my friend. Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
It has to be more sibling rivalry. That "sky dancing" as you call it, was the invention (or at least the signature) of the Crane School. Tao Pai Pai was just all, "Screw that. Give me a pillar!"

Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
...
I didn't even realize until just now that Tao is the brother of the master of Bukujutsu. o_o
Eahk, maybe he's not really riding on the pillar and is actually flying... and is just kinda making it look like he's riding it to show off.
(I think "bukujutsu" is either a parody, based on the name of a technique from another source, or sounds far less silly to the Japanese. I should remember the specifics, having heard this just last week, but I recall that dancing has different meaning in China compared to the west; I'd not be surprised if that extended to Japan in some form.)

Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
Maybe he could fly but chose to ride on the pillar instead because its faster/doesn't waste energy.
Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
I think so too, since Goku could fly too, but always chose to ride the Jindujun instead so conserve energy.Makaioshin wrote:Maybe he could fly but chose to ride on the pillar instead because its faster/doesn't waste energy.
Early in the story Bukujutsu was very energy consuming, which was shown when Tenshinhan saved Goku from Piccolo Daimao's blast.
Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
No one brought the alternative version of him in DB movie 3 into the picture yet?
I just want to say, that even though he is now a general instead of an assasin, his martial art skill is far from lost. He even had the singlemost greatest feat in the entirety of that movie!: pushing Goku all the way from the emperor grounds to the top of Karin's tower, with a single Dodon ray, which is pretty impressive, if the tower really is 8 km tall. Plus in the dub of the film it is said to move 300 miles!! to the east, which is 480km in the metric system
So yeah Tao is beast!

Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
How is General Tao great? He would lose to the weakest DBZ villain, Raditz. Hercule could take him.
But serously, Tao Pai Pai is probally one of my favorite Dragon Ball villains. He is so much cooler than Broly. He is far more interesting. I love how he wears pink.

I don't know where Godo is from, but we also use that name(Jindujun) in Denmark.Dr. Casey wrote:Jindujun? Never heard anyone call the Kinto'un that.Godo wrote: I think so too, since Goku could fly too, but always chose to ride the Jindujun instead so conserve energy.

Can Mark use ki in any way, or throw pillars and ride on them like Betty can? I didn't think so.GreggMays64 wrote:How is General Tao great? He would lose to the weakest DBZ villain, Raditz. (the H-word) could take him.![]()
Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
I think that Jindujun is either an alternative spelling or the Chinese spelling of Kinto'un. But as dbgtFO says, both Danish and Swedish releases uses the same name.Dr. Casey wrote:Jindujun? I think it was a joke. He says, "But seriously" afterwards. Of course Tao Pai Pai would beat the stuffing out of Mr. Satan.Zephyr wrote:Can Mark use ki in any way, or throw pillars and ride on them like Betty can?
