Gokû mentions that Hatchihyakku is more powerful than Broli around the time he learns of his weakness.

The original was made decades ago.

The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

He said that same line in the original, for the record. It had nothing to do with Broli's massive fanbase.

You said it. It's not enough that they didn't dub it, but they had to fuck up the subtitles aswell.

I enjoyed it, sure it was all action and little-to-no plot, but hey... it was new Dragon Ball! Just for that I'll enjoy it for the next few watches, when ever they'll be. If this thread still exists in a few years I'll be able to look at it by itself without the glow of "New Dragon Ball!!" on it...
Er.... No.

As long as this is being remastered Ramza should remaster his "Am I Evil" video.
Sean Schemmel is THE MAN! :)
Me- "Also, before anyone mentions it, Schemmel's interview was from nearly 15 years ago. He paid a brief visit to Kanzenshuu's forums a few years back and earned legendary respect that cancels out anything he said from that long ago. :D"

The art was a bit weak at times but its worst was nowhere near as bad as the worst art in the original version. The score was also much, much better. And while the original dragged on and on this one seemed much too fast with the heroes knowing about the gas almost instantaneously, Vegeta correctly assuming that a member of a thought be extinct race was behind the whole thing, and skipping the whole voyage to the Dark Planet. Overall it was better than the original but still wasn't good forgetting that its new Dragon Ball animation. But hey, its a pretty cool for a bonus feature.

I don't like how they had huge gaps between events...Like when they destroyed the first machine, they instantly jump to the dark planet...

Oh boy..
So back to the topic at hand...it's only 30 minutes long? Does the pacing feel rushed since it's only about 8-9 minutes longer than a standard anime episode? It's a little sad that there seems to be so many animation mistakes (as minor as they may be) considering this is the first new animation in what, two years?
Trans rights, now!

PtEtSS was really awesome.
- The animation was really neat when they were fighting.
- I'm really glad they kept the Mecha Freeza part in it. Even newcomers will know the truth now. As if they wanted to make up for RB1.
- Bulma proved her worth, yay!!
- Guess who revealed the solution ?....a really nice bit there. They even "action-replay"-ed it for you.
And the magic word for this special was DODGE!!! You'll know when.
I think you can see that effort was put in to this and I like it better than the old one. They showed history, comedy and the real power of teamwork.

I bought the game, and the first thing I did was watching the movie.
The pacing was better at the beginning, but felt rushed when they went to Lychee's planet. Like they've skipped a scene or something.
I liked the usage of the NES version's map sound effect with the machine. And I really liked how they handled the ghosts scene.
And of course, the soundtrack. It was waaaaaay better than the original and felt like a genuine DBZ movie. Especially at the beginning of Hatchiyack's fight and they all seemed to be loosing. Totally loved it.

You know, instead of forcing you to look at the rules of the forum, I'm just going to post this video as my answer to that post:
Nope.avi
Anyways, back on topic:
SonEric84 wrote:So back to the topic at hand...it's only 30 minutes long?
Actually, 29 minutes and 21 seconds to be exact. I timed it. But yeah, it's close to the half hour mark, so Namco-Bandai wasn't lying about that!
Forum quote of the moment:
Castor Troy wrote:You're all doing it wrong.
DBZ bootlegs have the movie 9 cover with the pioneer movie 2 description on the back and the disc actually has a Japanese soap opera in MEPG2.

Well, I watched it. It was actually pretty good! The part where Bulma pops up out of nowhere and saves the day was pretty odd, but everything else was just fine. They cut out all of the bullshit from the original OVA.
The music was really good, too. Especially the track that played during the final attack. I miss some of the original OVA music, believe it or not, such as the haunting organ-sounding piece that played while Hatchhyack was being formed, or the end credits song.
I give "Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans" a 7/10.

No dub has been released.
