Well, to be fair, Toonami kept it, although they did make the dialogue sound like he was just wiping off his hands rather than fondling.

That's a bit of a generalization. There are some really natural-sounding dubs out there.

Interesting that they used "Kamehame-Ha" in the next episode's title, when they actually went out of their way to change the TV version's spelling of an earlier episode to "Kamehameha".

Well, all I can say about these two latest episodes is... HOLY CRAP. Talk about exciting. I was so excited to hear Ayres vs. Schemmel, and neither failed to disappoint one bit. I especially loved "Fifty percent of my power, but a paltry half… a half should suffice to grind you into space dust." Goddamn, Ayres, you are PERFECT!!

Ginyu returning was just an added bonus. Can't wait for next week, when Goku has his visions and Vegeta briefly comes back.

Exactly, they did wonderfully in this episode, and that's what will make the next 10 episodes very exciting (More or less, dependent on what episode this last one was, lol). The only sad thing is that this enemy pair will eventually have to part way, and Freeza will have to go eventually...but until then, I plan to enjoy it.

And this is why the first Blu-Ray release of Dragonball Z (original) needs to be:

(1) Dragon Box footage (because they already own it)
(2) Completely redubbed using the Kai voice cast and writing/directing team (because the world needs more Chris Ayers as Freeza)
(3) With the music brought forward a bit and not hidden in the background

Oh my god Freeza talk to me forever with that sexy English voice. He used the world paltry. I heard paltry being used in English Dragon Ball Z.

Man, now I wish this show had all the filler left in if only to give Chris Ayres more lines to speak.

That is my ultimate desire. That's what I want as my final DB DVD set (all 508 episodes of DB, DBZ, and DBGT, all 17 DB and DBZ movies, and all the specials (Trunks, Bardock, that GT one, Both original and remade Plan to Eradicate, and Yo! Son Goku and his Friends Return) with the best quality footage (Dragon Box) with Kai's redubbing method and cast, and with the original music. Then, I'd buy it again on Blu Ray later.

So...is there any chance Goku can be haunted by Ghost Freeza? <_<

Joking aside, I am looking forward to see more from Ayres and Schemmel in their fantastic interactions.

Edit: And I just realized...the Wednesday after next, if there's no stop...will be Goku going SSJ...this should be amazing.

You know, it should be said that, while the voice for Bulma does sometimes grate on my nerves, it's really the acting on the part of Rial that makes it so many times more bearable than Vollmer.

Also, Gohan talking to FrogBulma... ADORABLE. Damn it, Colleen, don't you know Gohan is supposed to sound like a 30 year old woman!? Stop making him so cute and childlike!

You mean next Saturday after 45 & 46, or the Saturday after that? Either way, I'm glad the dub will reach this scene soon.

Was anyone who didn't watch it in Japanese months ago a little tiffed that they kept the Bulma frog thing? I never liked that bit.

I guess it's the better of the filler, but still, it's pointless to keep in the show. :?

I'm far more annoyed that they didn't cut out Vegeta seeing his first Super Saiyan on Planet Namek. What's their reason for leaving it in? Last weekend a couple friends and I watched the entire Freeza fight (DBZ version) starting with Kulilin getting impaled, and we found no story related problems skipping Vegeta and Super Saiyan Gokuh's encounter. :?

We were skipping filler! Wee! Though, we watched the Chichi filler, 'cause she amuses us.

I guess they were worried that we wouldn't actually see Vegeta leaving Namek... which I guess I would consider an insult to my intelligence. But there you go.

I'm really surprised about the amount of songs they've left untranslated so far. Sure, it's only two, but that's still a lot for an English-dubbed and edited anime on western television. The only other show I can think of that had untranslated songs was Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo and its theme music, which I imagine they got away with because the show was so off the wall anyway and thus a song not in English that most viewers wouldn't understand didn't seem so out of place.

"Only a Chilling Elegy" being untranslated isn't too surprising, as it's largely an ominous choir and those are almost always in a foreign language (except the Rebuild of Evangelion movies which have ominous English chanting instead), but when I saw that "Saiyan Blood" was also untranslated that was a bit of a surprise. That has quite a lot of Engrish in it, but it's still unquestionably sung in a foreign language to most viewers.

I suppose I'm just used to shows being localized to the point where they try to completely remove everything foreign about it.

After dubbing the song where everyone was dead, and what little there was on Ginyu Tokusentai (and the OP/ED), we don't know why no more has been dubbed. I assume it was a matter of being rushed on the TV dub.

The Naruto songs were (and continue) to not be translated for television. I dare say Viz expected viewers to actually enjoy it that way, too.

The difference there being that legitimate stand-alone bands do the music for that series. Even if they wanted to, they couldn't dub them without having to a pay a LOT. That's (one of the reasons) why the Fullmetal Alchemist songs have NEVER been dubbed.

But those are opening and ending themes; they're a different case. Though, for insert songs, I remember Inuyasha having an insert song that was kept in the English dub. Actually, DB did the same thing. :O
