No one is scoffing his parlance because we're "offended" by his dub preferences. We're scoffing him because he's in here perpetrating this highbrow character to present his case. It's laughable that you would draw this conclusion and anyone who doesn't see this is either letting it slide or is genuinely clueless.
Re: Moments FUNimation's English Dub Did Better?
It never ceases to amaze me that whenever someone presents elevated diction, everyone's first assumption is that a thesaurus is being relied upon. What a cliche.

Maybe he's doing it for fun? It's not like anyone's going to think his arguments are stronger because of his vocabulary. If anything, they'll ignore his posts because they don't know what he's saying. Lol.

Welcome to the internet.
Re: Moments FUNimation's English Dub Did Better?
Forget about my vocabulary and continue with the thread please. My case is no better than yours simply because of my word choice, I just use the resources I have available to me--my knowledge of words--when crafting prose. I use the dictionary only to commit new terms to memory; it's a hobby of mine.

Things FUNi did better...
Some might argue that the English version of Makafushigi Adventure! is better. I think they're both quite great; one's a classic - the other's like an amazing remix.

The monologue when Vegeta goes into a flashback and finally admits Goku is superior. The scene was a little awkward in Japanese when it is just flashing to different scenes without anyone speaking.

Things FUNi did better? Hmm...
...Hitler. Movie 12 Hitler. The overly-stereotypical Nazi talk and fake german accent on top of it made a hilarious comedic scene even more ridiculous. Come to think of it, FUNi seem to do a pretty good job with parody-type stuff in the dub.

Hmm... Doesn't sound much different from the Japanese dialogue, as I remember it.Lord Exor wrote:Mr. Shu.

The last portion was rewritten; the part about the the child prodigy.

Goku's Kaioken X20 with Japanese music.
The Ginyu Force. The Ginyu force was inroduced for comic relief so I think the silly voices (Retard Recoome Australian Jhesse etc) and silly lines ad to that.
Also while I'm on the subjet of the Ginyu force. Goku punches Jhesse Funimation dub that high pich screem.
DBGT SSJ4 Goku.

I agree with penguintruth but I like how in the English version it made them seem more awsome so its more of a suprise as it slowly shows how silly they realy are insted of showing that there a bunch of closet cheer leaders right from the start.penguintruth wrote: The insert song in Kai gives them that, "Oh god, that elite force is these guys?" kind of feel.

Really? I think Nozawa was great. Super Saiyan 4 Goku was easily the most manly voice she played in the entire series, except for maybe Tullece. It contrasted nicely with her lil' Goku voice. Hearing Nadolny and Schemmel together in DBGT just makes me think, "Really? That voice sounded like that, when he was a kid?"ringworm128 wrote:DBGT SSJ4 Goku.

Re: Moments FUNimation's English Dub Did Better?
While it doesn't have anything strictly dealing with the dub, I would have to go with the presentation of the FUNimation Dragon Boxes (which, as it includes the dub, I'll say fits the description). While there's nothing wrong with the original Dragon Boxes, I think the layout just looks quite a bit better than the Japanese versions.
For those who nitpick about inappropriate characters on the FUNimation boxes, the Japanese boxes aren't perfect either.
Box 1 - Namek-era Goku and first form Frieza.
Goku never fought first form Frieza, arriving at that battle only after Frieza had transformed into his final form.
Box 2 - SSJ Goku and first form Cell
Once again, as far as I can recall, SSJ Goku did not encounter first form Cell, only initially meeting up with Perfect Cell prior to the Cell Games.
To head off any potential rebuts of that analysis, I realize all of those characters appeared in the boxes they were depicted on, but if you consider the placement on the cover as a "match up" as it were, they clearly didn't happen.
The layout of the FUNimation boxes, which a single character receiving the spotlight, just makes those pieces of artwork look even better. Furthermore, the price is an indisputable improvement over the original boxes.

Re: Moments FUNimation's English Dub Did Better?
Moments the English dub did better? Barely any. However, for some reason I always liked Bulma's dub line after Babidi makes his world broadcast: "So they're the ones that took Gohan and Vegeta away from us?"
Re: Moments FUNimation's English Dub Did Better?
Androids hijacking their truck. Epic music for a not-so-epic scene.
