I am sad... The script is the same old inaccurate one, with only the occasional accurate line added in where scenes were originally cut.

I won't be buying this, it seems. I'll rent it so I can watch it in Japanese once, and I'll watch the English dub to hear Clinkenbeard's Gokuh, and the other new voices. At least Pu'ehr will finally have a good voice in Dragon Ball. I can't stand Antonelli's ear bleeding Pu'ehr. Too bad Oolong still sounds totally wrong and way too old.

The video quality is on par with the Double Features, surprisingly. If only it were in widescreen...
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

If nothing else, I'm glad to finally have the last movie of this franchise that I needed. Well, barring stuff we've never gotten over here at all yet.

Oh, and those sound clips I promised I'd try to get? The vid is loading to Youtube as we speak. Fair warning though, the sound clips are pretty low quality, but you can hear everyone at least.

...Ohh. Well that's simple. I'll have to remember that. Thanks. ^_^;

Here's that video with some sneak preview audio from the new dub. Again, sorry that it's so low quality guys, but this is what I can manage at the moment.

Can you rip the clip of Master Roshi asking Bulma to flash him?

I find myself liking Clinkenbeard's Gokû.

BTW, out of curiosity, do the subtitles for the Japanese track say "Gurumes" or "Gourmeth"?

*checks*

Via the line Pasta first says to him, it looks like they went with Gurumes in the subs too.

And as requested, here's the 'bouncy, bouncy' scene.

Wasn't "pafu-pafu" just a wapanesefied version of the english "puff-puff" anyway? o_O

If it is, I find it odd that they went with Bouncy-bouncy. I could be wrong though...

Viz translated it as "puff-puffs".

Though, pafu is two syllables, and puff is only one. That's probably why it was changed to bouncy.

Why does Umigame always sound like DERP HERP DA DERP?

I personally enjoy Bryan Massey's Oolong. And Clinkenbeard's Goku sounds pretty good. But Monica Rial seems to steal the show as Bulma.

He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. The only English dub to have a good voice for Umigame is the Westwood dub of DB. They may have been poor actors, but at least they know enough to not make a character sound like his brain's broken.

Was there any swearing in the dubbed version of the movie?

Yep, your usual unnecessary stuff FUNI seems to like adding to convince us dragonball's not a kid's show. You can hear it in the "boobies" clip from Bulma. Also, I'm pleasantly surprised by Colleen Clinkenbeard's Goku. I didn't expect to like it, but I do - she's almost perfect for Goku!
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Is it true that the dub script is a copy and paste of the old one?

I listened to the clip afterwards, and yeah, I heard the use of hell a couple of times. To be fair, isn't that on the same level as the original Japanese version in terms of inclusion of profanity?

I also have to point out that I remember how roughly ten years ago people repeatedly based Funi's dubs on DVD for not including any profanity when there is some in the original. It's amusing in light of the fact that you referred to it as "unnecessary" and added to convince us it's not a kids' show.

Aside from previously cut material, it appears much of it is - aside from your typical attempts from them to make it more "edgey" here and there. Also, I wasn't around 10+ years ago in the fandom. I just feel like Dragonball doesn't need language, really. Though I'm not for outright censorship of content/footage (or even character's orientations, such as General Blue) I also feel as if cursing is generally unnecessary in Dragonball.

I thought I'd be able to stomach Clikenbeard's Gokū, but he sounds way too much like Luffy for my tastes. Yuck.

I'm happy that they used "Gurumes", though.

Sounds good so far, now I just have to wait two months for the box-set.
