Re: "Raging Blast 2" Gigantic On-Going Gaming Discussion
After playing the game for a few hours last night, I feel somewhat let down. I mean the game is fun, but everything feels so bland. The game does not pump me up, and give me adrenalin when playing in a fight like the past games did. The combat feels so very linear, and the game feels no different from the first game. All of the matches so far in Galaxy mode are so easy, and it feels like the AI does not put up a fight at all. I do love the graphics since everything looks amazing, and the backgrounds are very well done since I was amazed how beautiful Planet Namek looks.
I don't know why but I feel so bored when playing this game. I got both this game and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions for Christmas, and I feel like SM:SD is much better game.

Re: "Raging Blast 2" Gigantic On-Going Gaming Discussion
Well, that's saying something because Shattered Dimensions is said to be very repetitive. I don't know if I just really love Dragon ball or something, but when people say that twenty characters are exactly the same except for their appearance, I get confused. Doesn't anyone else notice how every character moves differently when they attack? Or how nearly every character has their own signature?

There's been five games in this series and some people seemingly haven't figured out that it's not a fighting game.ssjtrunks51 wrote:Well, that's saying something because Shattered Dimensions is said to be very repetitive. Two characters in hand to hand combat, equipped with special teqniques, health bars, and character specific button combinations. Not a fighting game?

Re: "Raging Blast 2" Gigantic On-Going Gaming Discussion
Truthfully, that makes no sense. Sorry, but it REALLY doesn't. Like Innagadadavida said, there's health bars, two people in an arena, and specific buttons to activate certain attacks that make the health bar decrease. So where is your logic coming from?Rocketman wrote:There's been five games in this series and some people seemingly haven't figured out that it's not a fighting game.ssjtrunks51 wrote:Well, that's saying something because Shattered Dimensions is said to be very repetitive. Oh shush, you all know what he means.
It's not a fighting game in the traditional sense, it's a Dragon Ball simulator.
Hurr, but that means it is a fighting game
No, it doesn't, that's like saying Mario Kart Wii is a sports game. The focus on this series isn't about hand to hand combat, racking up combos, or countering them. It's not very technical ( and no, I don't care what you say. Compared to the sheer quantity of great fighters I've played, this series is not technical when compared to the latest KoF, Tekken, or Street Fighter incarnations.) It's a very skinned down fighting game, left with the bare basics. You can combo, sure, but there isn't much to it, you'll hit the same button and few times and just hope at your opponent doesn't teleport. There's depth beyond that, but it isn't very rewarding, because it's not as deep as it should be. You hit a limit to what you can do, meaning there's not too much difference between a pro and a new player's abilities.
This game is about playing as your favourite Dragon Ball characters, and blasting people with huge lasers, it's not about exploring the depth of the combat system.

There's no genre called a "Dragon Ball simulator", though. Whether or not it's like the traditional fighting games or as in-depth as Street Fighter or Tekken, it's still a game where the main focus is playing as one character and fighting another in hand-to-hand combat, with blocks, health bars, techniques and combos, until they get KO'd.Rory wrote:Oh shush, you all know what he means.

You have a very narrow-minded definition of a fighting game. And Mario Kart Wii is a racing game.

So does this mean Virtua Quest is a fighting game?Piccolo Daimao wrote:There's no genre called a "Dragon Ball simulator", though. You can't tell someone "Mario Kart Wii is a racing game. Gran Turismo 5 is a racing game, too!" and expect them to have all the information they need to go into it. That's why we have sub-descriptors. Thus, "DragonBall Simulator".Piccolo Daimao wrote:You have a very narrow-minded definition of a fighting game. And Mario Kart Wii is a racing game.
It's clear Rory is just playing his standard Dimps card (and yes, it's getting a little old), but there's some truth in there.
If you folks want to get into this for the umpteenth time with the exact same arguments and examples thrown back and forth, by all means create a new thread about it.

Re: "Raging Blast 2" Gigantic On-Going Gaming Discussion
If a 3rd RB game is made then I hope they do something new with the combat system. I feel like I had no fun when fighting another character in the game seeing it looks like the combat is pretty much the same as the first RB game so far.

C'mon, give me some credit, I haven't done it in a while!VegettoEX wrote:It's clear Rory is just playing his standard Dimps card (and yes, it's getting a little old), but there's some truth in there.
To be honest, I wasn't praising Dimps or slagging off Spike. I was simply setting people straight as to what Rocketman meant, as everybody was so quick to jump on him with the old "There's fighting and health bars!" argument.

My favorite fighting game is the Azel boss fights in God Hand.

I think once you get used to the game then its starts to get fun. Galaxy mode is pretty fun right now, and I got three dragon balls right now.

In my opinion Galaxy mode is great fun at first but it gets repetitive the moment you unlock every character, because there's nothing to really aim for after that other than completing everything.

Re: "Raging Blast 2" Gigantic On-Going Gaming Discussion
It took me a while to get used to the fact that there is no story mode. Well, most of the battles you fight in Galaxy mode are based on the battles you see in the anime and manga, anyway.

Re: "Raging Blast 2" Gigantic On-Going Gaming Discussion
Wow, I just saw my first review(outside of VegettoEX's) today. It was in Playstation the Official magazine. They weren't to thrilled with the game giving it a "4" out of 10. It's hard to compare it to Raging Blast's score last year because the rating system changed, but I think that game got a better rating from them. They basically say everything we already know, but they didn't like the lack of story mode and the "hardcore audience" mentality.
I haven't seen a review for the game anywhere else so I was kind of surprised they even bothered.
I'd like to pick this game up eventually(I mean really, the only other DBZ game I have for this gen is Burst Limit) but I'm overwhelmed with so many other games that this title is so low on my list. I'm either going to hold out for a major price drop or just hope for a console port for that new Arcade game coming out.

...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

How come Tarble is not showing up on my character list after you beat 100% full power Freeza with Vegeta?

I've heard that if you don't do galaxy mode in the right order (top to bottom), some characters are unlocked differently. That could be why you're not getting Tarble.

Yeah but I notice some battles in Galaxy mode will not let you play them sometimes though.

No, I meant in terms of character order. So, you'd end up doing goku first and hatchiyack last.
