My Hypothetical Dragonbox
Re: My Hypothetical Dragonbox
Why don't they just move the series to Blu-Ray already?(The original series, not Kai)

Re: My Hypothetical Dragonbox
My hypothetical Blu-ray Dragon Box:
-Fully remastered at 1080p from original 16mm film (with grain intact, no DVNR)
-Japanese audio remixed into stereo (default)
-New English dub true to the original, complete with the original music, proper names and pronounciations, and correct episode titles
-Japanese and English video via alternate angles
-Textless versions of all opening and ending animations
-Japanese and English cast profiles
-Music videos of theme songs
Yeah, this seems like enough stuff.

Re: My Hypothetical Dragonbox
Obviously my perfect Dragon Box would include the Creative Products Corp dubs of DBZ movies 5 and 6.

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

I'm up for that, provided FUNimation leaves it uncropped and does something about those occasional missing lines.Bardo117 wrote:Why don't they just move the series to Blu-Ray already?(The original series, not Kai)

Is Blu-Ray going to do the original Z any favors, though? It barely does Kai any.

Re: My Hypothetical Dragonbox
Using the Dragon Box masters wouldn't benefit much anyway on Blu-Ray as Toei/Pony Canyon's remastering was done at 480p since it was before the HD era hit so the only thing that would benefit is a bigger bitrate and loseless audio (if there was any).
Re: My Hypothetical Dragonbox
Drained? What does this even mean? I think a 1080p transfer is probably going to happen at some point. If they can do it to Star Trek, they can do it to Dragon Ball.AnimeMaakuo wrote: Why would you ever put the Dragon Boxes in Blue Ray? It's already as good as it's going to get, I believe. Anything else, and it would look drained. Besides, it looks classy. >.>

If you drop the disk, it won't scratch.

I can't figure out why so many people seem to want a 5.1 mix for a show that was produced in mono.
Re: My Hypothetical Dragonbox
I'm pretty sure there was a stereo track it was just "lost", I don't think they thought they would still be releasing the show about 20 years later.CODii wrote:I can't figure out why so many people seem to want a 5.1 mix for a show that was produced in mono.
If you're not here soon... GET ON!

They can always remaster the series.CODii wrote:I can't figure out why so many people seem to want a 5.1 mix for a show that was produced in mono.

Re: My Hypothetical Dragonbox
Not if the master audio is mono and they don't have the individual tracks anymore, so the best we'd probably get is the Master audio tapes used in Fuji TV's first broadcast which was already much better than the Dragon Box track, if they got ahold of them that is. The reason why the movies were stereo is because they still had a seperate track for the voices and SFX so they were able to remix it, though I think the voices (maybe SFX too) were still mono.Bardo117 wrote:They can always remaster the series.
