Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Wishful thinking, but I hope they're putting the show on hiatus so they can work on a Dragon Ball Kai Movie (Which will gross even more than 'Strong World'
).
Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
I was really impressed with "Strong World"; I'd love to see a DB movie with that high level of animation. I'm not as optimistic about that happening as I was last year, but it's something I'd still be really happy about if it were to be made.
On hiatus.

All I can say at the moment is that it would be a darn shame if Kai got cancelled after Cell.
But do I think it will? No.

Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Well since Kai is now coming to even more countries and FUNi just got the streaming rights from Toei, which is odd that it took THIS long to happen and at this time (with cell saga ending soon, etc). It just seems as if Toei really did cancel it or put it on the back burner but FUNi stepped up and finally caved in to buy the streaming rights to help them finish it.
Hopefully Netflix now steps up and buys the rights to stream the series online alongside Comcast, etc. More money for FUNi/Toei = Kai being finished = Me

"Complete Song Collection"?
This is bad. It certainly adds a lot of validity to the speculation that the series will be canceled. Man, that's just cold.

Oh.. oh crap.
Crap Crap Crap.
I mean.. argh. It's been said a million times already but the manga doesn't end with Cell >_>
But.. would it genuinely be that hard to edit out the filler of the Boo saga?

Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
If I wanted to be more optomistic, I would say that if Kai is indeed canceled in Japan, FUNimation could pay for the production of more episodes for the domestic version. They could even have financial help from 4kids or Nickelodeon. If Kai is doing well enough, that is. It wouldnt be the first time an American company payed for more episodes of canceled show. It's happened with Big O, Power Rangers, and Bakugan to name a few. Though one could argue that those shows had a million times more merchandizing potential in the first place...
Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
If Funi did that, it'd be a safe bet that the new animation would stop and they'd just use existing footage for everything. There would also be no subbed version. Finally, they'd have to get music tracks from the CDs or from the source audio files and edit them together. I guess it's possible, but it's not reasonably foreseeable.
Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Well, that didn't stop the Rurôni Kenshin anime from being canceled. If Dragon Ball Kai isn't bringing in what Toei wants brought in than it is expendable. Dragon Ball Z is still there and serves as a perfectly good anime adaption for twenty years before Dragon Ball Kai appeared.Soul wrote:Oh.. oh crap.

Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Dragon Ball has always been Funi's cash cow. If they must, I have no doubt in my mind that they would pay a little extra to have Toei continue giving them the material needed to put Kai through the Buu arc. They make too much money from the series to pass that up.
Of course, that's assuming that the series is canceled, and there's still a chance that it will continue, so it's a wait and see maneuver for now.

RIDER KIIIIIIICK!
Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Optimistic crackpot time: FUNi does it themselves with the Buu arc's DBOX footage.

Shit. I've been skeptical up until now, but this has made me start to worry.

Has it come to anyones minds that it's just taking a hiatus? From the e-mail I got says they're just taking a break.. but didn't answer on "is it cancelled"

What email do you speak of? From whom? How is it a valid source?Daimo-Rukiri wrote:Has it come to anyones minds that it's just taking a hiatus? From the e-mail I got says they're just taking a break.. but didn't answer on "is it cancelled"
Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
There was a break a week ago, someone might have told him about that and he's getting confused.
This doesn't really say much though, The series already catches flack for reusing music so much, so it's not too totally out there that they've just got all the music they'll need created.

Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Well, y'gotta consider that up until now they've been using new image songs for promotional purposes. Each up has had a handful of new pieces made...why not continue the tradition for the Majin Boo arc? They could do quite a bit with the new characters introduced and new techniques and transformations, totally fitting their motus operanti up until now.DemonRin wrote:This doesn't really say much though, The series already catches flack for reusing music so much, so it's not too totally out there that they've just got all the music they'll need created.

Grr. You guys commented about that whole "Manga" issue and don't even bring up RuroKen to me!
But you guys kept missing my big question: Would it be that expensive to edit the filler out of the Boo arc?
