Though I wonder how often you have parents upset with cursing though.
I don't think even Naruto's uncut dub has as much as Kai.
Yu Yu Hakusho's uncut dub has even more than Kai, though. It contains the word "Piss", "Hell", "Crap", "Retard", "Damn", "Bitch" and "Shit".
Retard isn't a curse. It's just a regular insult, though might not be used as much due to oversensitive people and too much pc-ness.

'Retard' is a clinical (and somewhat crude) description of the mentally challenged. To insinuate someone or something is 'retarded' as a slang insult is insulting to those who are actually retarded. If the homosexual community can be outraged when someone can uses 'gay' as a subsitute for 'stupid' than I think it is perfectly fine for those associated with the community of those mentally challenged to be insulted by the use of 'retard[ed]' where the word 'stupid' would be far better a fit.

This has been a talking points with Dr. Jacob. Thanks for your time! :)

As a man living in the 19th century I hope we can all rise above calling other individuals "idiots" and "imbeciles" it just offends me greatly so I hope everyone with stop using such hurtful terms. My son is an imbecile I'll have you know.

Okay, having finally seen the real Kai Uncut of Frieza's impalement, there's one thing that sticks out for me.

Image

Why did they replace the shot? I think it would've been perfect to be left in because it implies his horn has something to do with it without showing the wound, and they could've easily edited out the blood on his horn, as I can prove:

Image

Were they not allowed to focus on the horn, period, because it was too obvious or something?

The shot your talking about is in the next episode. You edited a still image, they would have to edit each frame of animation, it's not as easy. :?

Edit: I said "the next episode" meaning episode 38. I've was currently comparing episode 37 so my head was currently in that episode. So this is not in the next episode in the comparison, it's in the one after.

The only thing that happens is the camera's focus changes from the horn to Frieza's face so it's not like there's a lot of animation to edit, aside from the blood they'd edit out anyway. Besides, they didn't have any problems editing Frieza's blood licking shot which had more to edit.

That's just it. They would have to edit the blood during the focus change. That's not like editing blood on someone's face. On top of that, the blood is constantly moving.

Sounds like a challenge. :P

Edit: Okay, this is definitely very hard, especially the way I'm doing it. XD Still, it's a shame they couldn't have left it in.

A Nightmare Trasnformation! Freeza's Power Level: One Millionl?!

During the recap, another uncut line has slipped into the TV version. This seems to happen sometimes with the recaps...

Image

Image

As Piccolo is flying towards the battlefield, he senses a faint energy. Thinking it's Gohan he foes to investigate. It's Nail and his blood is edited for TV...

Image

He tells Piccolo that if he wants to even have a chance against Freeza he should fuse with him. Nail goes on to say he's the last Namekian warrior on the planet...

Image

Piccolo eventually fuses with Nail and continues to fly towards the battle field, more powerful then before. The next edit doesn't come until about 10 minutes later...

Meanwhile Vegeta and Freeza are locked in a power struggle. Surprised by Vegeta's power, Freeza says...

Image

Vegeta tells Freeza he knows he can transform. Freeza not really needing too, transforms anyway. While he powers up Freeza's armor shatters and shoots in different directions slicing Vegeta's cheek.

Image

Feeling the power of the transformation, Piccolo says to himself...

Image

Now in his second form, Freeza powers up yet again, blowing everyone away. Piccolo, sensing this powering up as well, yells out...

Image

After the power up, it seemed Krillin got grazed by a rock...

Image

Vegeta knows he's no match for Freeza in this form and thinks to himself...

Image

Freeza then looks at everyone and asks...

Image

Almost immediately after this, "Only a Chilling Elegy" plays in the TV version. It starts up 12 seconds earlier than in the uncut version. I guess this is because there are so much time is cut from Krillin's stabbing scene, they needed to start it early to time it with the end of the episode.

So, Freeza rushes Krillin with his horns, stabbing him. How did they edit around this? Well...

The initial shot of Krillin being stabbed was cut and replaced with a close up shot of his face...

Image

The next shot of Krillin's back side, and Dende falling are edited...

Image

The shot of Krillin stuck on Freeza's horn...

Image

The shot of blood pouring out of Krillin was replaced with a close up shot of Freeza from the next episode...

Image

Then the narrator talks about what just happened and Krillin coughs up some blood...

Image

As he continues on there is a shot of Krillin's blood on Freeza's face...

Image

The episode ends soon after this. Then in the next episode preview there is a bit of a dialogue edit with Gohan's voice over...

Anyone else notice? The part of the song (Nicktoons) Kai starts on when Gohan tries to attack Fourth Form Frieza, the climax of the chanting, is "He's coming. Hell will be exposed." in Japanese. Did Funimation successfully sneak crap past the radar on this one?

Note: Also, the initial horn piercing Krillin isn't entirely cut. It's replaced with a shot of Krillin's eyes widening.
Image

I noticed it when I looked at the uncut version again and realized the closeup of Krillin widening his eyes, which appears in the Nicktoons version, isn't in it. It seems they used Krillin's initial reaction shot from a couple of seconds prior.

Welcome to every forum post I ever make. It's even worse because I fancy myself a bit of a writer. (I swear I'm more coherent when writing seriously!)

It's much better that they replaced it, anyway. I imagine it would look very sloppy if it showed Frieza going towards him and then cut to the "impaled" back scene without any kind of transition. They more or less made the impaling "off screen".

So, after about 8 months of doing these, I wanted to finally make a web page for these comparisons. I wasn't too familiar with the whole HTML thing so, asked CastorTroy if he wanted these, just to throw them up on his page. He, in turn actually helped me a great deal in creating my own page for them. I've been working on this for a few days, converting the images from the early episodes to fit the same format as the later ones (for the most part) and, I think it's finally ready to show you guys! It has an episode list for easy access and has a link to the previous or next episode right on the comparison page. Well, hope you like it...

http://dbzkedits.3gkai.com/?p=39

I will be posting the last two episodes of the third DVD set here on the forum and over on the site, but from DVD set 4 and on, it'll be exclusive to the site. Don't worry, I'll still post a link when I add a new episode here to keep you guys updated.

You know what? That's seriously awesome.
I'll definitely link that around, even spam it a bit to certain places :P
Big thing is, the lot of people who assume that how Kai is on Nicktoons is the "actual" version of Kai.
So keep it up Tanooki!

Re: DragonBall Z Kai Cable TV Version (NickToons) Edits! *Ep

Note: This is the first new post that I made that would be going to both the site, and here on the forum. If you notice, the site version of this comparison is a little different, I'd say better.

Image

As the episode begins there is an edit right smack in the very first shot. The episode begins with a shot of Krillin on Freeza's horn and it pans down to behind Gohan. The Nicktoons version starts the pan a little bit after Freeza is out of the shot...

Image

A shot of Krillin on Freeza's horn omitted...

Image

Vegeta looks on and says...

Image

Next there's a shot of Freeza's horn and Krillin's blood dripping down off of it. The alternate shot they used was actually a small shot of Freeza talking from later in the episode, looped to be stretched out and edited to fit the word flaps for the dialogue in this shot.

Image

The very next shot is an edited shot of Krillin's back...

Image

Krillin then tries to kick Freeza, it was altered to omit the shot of Krillin on Freeza's horn...

Image

As Gohan rushes Freeza there is a shot of Freeza pushing Krillin's knee back...

Image

As Gohan rushes him there is a quick shot of Krillin on Freeza's horn...

Image

Gohan get's tail smacked and looks up at Freeza, Krillin yells to Gohan to not even try...

Image

Gohan looks up and Freeza lift's his head...

Image

Freeza tosses Krillin into the sea, the blood spurts and the hole in his armor are edited out...

Image

Gohan rushes to try and save Krillin but...

Image

Enraged that Freeza won't let him pass, he attacks Freeza. Ninety percent of Gohan pummeling Freeza is edited out...

Image

I should note, they added a very awkward sound bit during Gohan powering up to blast Freeza. As Gohan readies his blast you can hear Vegeta off screen say "what?!"

At some point Gohan blast Freeza right in the face. The initial animation of the blast in Freeza's face has been flash edited. It kinda seems like they just cut the shot and then layered the flash over the missing piece of animation because the flash happens during some animation of smoke due to the blast.

Image

As Freeza lays on the ground, Gohan blast him with a bunch of attacks. This was edited out. I don't know why, they've allowed this kinda stuff before...

Image

With Freeza temporarily down, Gohan tries to save Krillin but, Dende got him!

Image

Freeza gets up and says to Gohan...

Image

Vegeta yells to himself...

Image

Freeza flies up to Gohan and smacks him...

Image

Freeza continues his attack with a knee to the stomach, Gohan's blood spat is edited out...

Image

Gohan then gets a kick to the face, again--the blood spat is edited out...

Image

As Gohan lays on the ground, Vegeta sees an opportunity and blasts Freeza...

Image

Ignoring Vegeta's pitiful little blast, Freeza continues on with Gohan. Gohan tries to attack Freeza but to no avail.

Image

This whole edit was very confusing to follow and put into words. They took some scenes from the previously omitted scenes and placed some of them here. Basically they made it seem like after Gohan got tail smacked, he went and attacked Freeza but fails. Freeza appears behind him and slams him to the ground in the uncut version, but that's taken out of the TV version. Instead, like I said before, they added some scenes of Gohan attacking Freeza from before that were edited out.

Image

From here on out, any close up shots of Freeza's foot on top of Gohan's head was replaced with a shot of Gohan laying on the ground from the previous scene which, really doesn't look very good in certain places...

Image

Freeza asks Vegeta if he's going to do anything to help or if he's just paralyzed with fear. He then goes on to taunt Vegeta...

Image

Vegeta thinks to himself...

Image

Vegeta's eye is altered to replace the image of Freeza's foot on Gohan's head...

Image

Freeza is about to finish the job...

Image

Meanwhile, Goku senses Gohan's fading energy...

Image

He continues on to say...

Image

As Freeza is about to finish off Gohan, Krillin returns! Krillin throws a Kienzan, clipping off the end of Freeza's tail...

Image

After seeing Krillin, Freeza yells...

Image

Krillin fires up another Keinzan...

Image

Krillin mocks Freeza a bit, then there's a reaction shot from Freeza. In the uncut version, there is one more scene of Krillin mocking Freeza before Krillin runs off. The second mocking scene was cut...

Image

Krillin runs off trying to give Dende enough time to heal Gohan, eventually Freeza catches up to Krillin and says...

Image

Krillin then dives into the sea and swims away...

Image

Eventually this doesn't work. Krillin then tries a Taiyo-ken to get away, and successes.

Image

Meanwhile, Dende goes and does what he does best, healing...

Image

When Freeza gets back to the battlefield he finds Gohan is now all healed up as well...

Image

Now that Gohan is back in action, Vegeta feels confident about teaming up to defeat Freeza. After they do, Gohan goes and attacks Freeza himself. Before he could get to him, Piccolo appears! Vegeta, confused by this says...

Image

Piccolo declares he'll take on Freeza by himself, and the episode ends soon after.
