Favorite Tokunaga Tracks
Favorite Tokunaga Tracks
I'm sure these threads have been done before, but I haven't seen one recently.
Anyway, if I recall correctly, the last words about Tokunaga's GT score spoken on the Daizex podcast called it nice, but "difficult to remember specific melodies outside of the main theme variations." I'm sure there are other people here who will agree with me about completely disagreeing with that statement.
Post your favorite, memorable Tokunaga themes here.
I've always held this up as one of the best tracks in all three anime series. There's something very nostalgic about it. It kind of has a '50s vibe to it, or something. I absolutely love its placement as Goku flies away on Shen-Long as well.
As far as dire themes, I've always found these two incredibly catchy and tension-building.
And this, actually for all the reasons the comments on that video list.
The guy whose videos I've used in this post has most of the soundtrack up and conveniently separated into single tracks already, if that helps.

Re: Favorite Tokunaga Tracks
My favorites are the DAN DAN Kokoro Hikarete'ku and Hitori Ja Nai variations, that one really epic piece that played when Pan kicked the crap out of the bank robbers in episode one, and the Evil Dragons theme.

The music that played during Piccolo's sacrifice, it's very emotional and was perfect for the scene, which Gohan crying n' all.

The BGM when everybody contributed to the Genki Dama has always been fantastic in my eyes. Inspiring stuff.
Re: Favorite Tokunaga Tracks
It's a shame GT never had a BGM release, that was one of the best parts about the series. That last one you posted is one of my favorite pieces of music, period, Cipher. I'm also a big fan of the theme variations and I wish they would have done it with all the songs rather than just DAN DAN and Hitorijanai.
I know that a full BGM rip has been posted, but last time I downloaded it I couldn't play them for some reason? They said .mp3 but there was some kind of codec error or something which I've never encountered with any other mp3s before.

The Dan Dan instrumental played during Super Saiyan 4 Gokû's first appearence. How do you not love that thing? It's a very touching piece and I wish it was available commercially.

It's not one of my favorites, but I really dig the shift at at about fifty seconds in. It's timed very well in the series too, with Yi Xing-Long getting a shocked expression on his face right as the music changes.
Re: Favorite Tokunaga Tracks
Yeah, that's the one. It's a great piece that works incredibly for the scene. It's also got a nostalgic flair to it.

SSJ4 Goku's Transformation Theme. (Slow orchestra version of DAN DAN).
That song pretty much defines GT as a whole.
