There are themes and nuances to even DB, so it's absoutely art. It might not be a masterpiece, but it's art, even if it's mostly commercial art.

Whatever it is, it deserves enough respect to be put across as it was intended.

At this point we just have different definitions of art, so we'll have to agree to disagree. Still, Toei has shown no sign that they aren't pleased with FUNimation's work, and have continued to work with them for the past 15 years, so even if it is art the fans care more about it being shown respect than the creators.

No, DragonBall isn't art. Anyone could have come up with both the story and all of the illustrations.

You can't say that. The nature of art is a very indistinct concept.
Anything that is made to stimulate someones thoughts and emotions can be considered art.

He gives a little of his energy to Freeza. He gives a Senzu bean to Cell.....
He gave Freeza energy because he was being merciful. He gave Cell a Senzu because he was cocky...or trying to egg on Gohan...or something like that...but he obviously knew Cell would be healed.

He gave Cell a Senzu because he wanted a "fair fight", because he was arrogant that Gohan would beat Cell anyway.

Goku fully deserved that whooping by the Cell Junior. Although, no matter what Goku does wrong, it always works out well in the end. :P

He said Dragon Ball isn't art, and then said that was sarcasm, meaning he thinks Dragon Ball is art for those same reasons he listed it being not art. As such, I responded with my own sarcasm, which seems to have gone over your head.

I agree that Dragon Ball has some level or merit as 'art'. We wouldn't have assembled here if it didn't. I don't believe it is any licensee's place to mess with said 'art', espicially to the level that FUNimation is known for with Dragon Ball.

Go Diego Go really ruined that shows integrity. If they're going to make a male counterpart to Dora they should have the decency and respect to make a female counterpart for Boots to balance out the gender ratio. It's sexism is what it is. No respect.

No, I understood your sarcasm. You just came off as snarky when you replied to his post, as if he said that story and illustrations are the only things that make up art, when he may (and I and many others do) believe that they're just two of them.

Some stuff to say about the later episodes:

I really like Schemmel's "YOU FOOL!" when Freeza launches a final attack against him in ep 53.

Vegeta calls Bulma "bull-moose". Huh.

King Cold's voice is great.

I wish they would stop adding lines where their obviously weren't any to begin with. Gohan now has a running commentary on putting on his Saiyan outfit. We get it, he's putting on his boots.

There IS a metallic effect on Mecha-Freeza's voice. At least in ep 55.

Vale's Trunks is WAY better than before. However, I don't like how his dialogue is written, because it's not formal enough.

Ugh. "What's a Goku?" intact, for you lovers of that line.

There's a thread at the Funimation forums that has links to the episodes via the Nicktoons site.

Nicktoons split the episodes up in tracks, or "carts", and they can be accessed.

I assume this is (somewhat) legal, since it's Nicktoons' site.

Lord, Mecha Freeza sounds so bad. What were they thinking? Cold...is really unimpressive. Vegeta's terrible too, as usual. Sabat's trying to hard to differenciate between Yamcha, Vegeta, and Piccolo.
