Well, information is subject to change, right?
It may be the description of old "Soundtrack IV", but according to my recollection, amazon inserted the description at the same time as the cover art of "Soundtrack Shuu" came out.

In any case, I hope what the product description says is true, though with it saying "集" on that cover instead of "IV", I can't help but wonder...

I really hope either CDJapan or Amazon Japan posts a tracklisting soon.

Guess what.
They've revealed the track list for the OST Collection, and damn if it isn't the load of s**t we all were fearing. Out of 76 total tracks, only 6 at best are previously unreleased.
New tracks are in bold.

19. An Eerie Stillness - Kai2:13
20. The Fate Of The Saiyans
21. To Those Who Meet Their End (this could be the version already available, or because of the lack of the word "Requiem", it could be one of the unreleased, isolated layers - either instrumental only, or vocal only)
22. A Disastrous Spectacle - Kai2:27
23. An Agonizing Choice - Kai2:28
24. A Mighty Foe - Kai1:31
25. Tears Of Grief - Kai2:30

34. The Joy Turns To Silence - Kai3:26
35. Transient Peace - Kai3:27
36. Creature Of Marvel ~Slow Version~
37. The Curtain Rises On The Battle ~Long Version~ - Kai3:14
38. Next Episode Preview "Wings Of The Heart" ver. - Kai3:29

They seriously can do better than this. Where's the sponsor credits music? Where's the alternates for KAME HOUSE, The Braveheart Challenges The Strong, etc. etc.? Even if they absolutely had to rehash the last three collections, they could have at least given us everything in Yamamoto's unreleased library!
Grrr... I'm going to bed angry. I think I might eat my pillow out of frustration.

That sucks, really. I definitely don't pay 3,300 yen just for 6 tracks. Now I hate Columbia more.

*edit: I guess "20. The Fate Of The Saiyans" is the track listed as "Destiny (Alternate)" on kenisu's site.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's funny, all this time I had been mulling over whether I should have translated unmei as "fate" instead of "destiny" back when OST 1 came out.... and now here's my answer. O_o

But ugh, the suits at Columbia (if that is in fact who's at fault) have pulled some nasty stunts in the past (keeping Kikuchi's complete DragonBall score from us, to name one), but this.... I mean, telling us it'll be a compilation of unreleased stuff, then getting us all excited when they reveal a second disc... and then practically bait-and-switching us when the tracklist comes to light, filled to the brim with rehashes while the rest of the unpublished material is right there, downright screaming for attention....

Wow, angry fanboy rant overload.

So this really might be the end of Kai? :(

That's so depressing if true; I don't want this series to remain uncompleted.

This is true. I wasn't overly attached to Kai (I didn't buy any of the DVDs), but I feel really bad for those who really enjoy the show.

I'd been so looking forward to seeing how they'd edit the Buu arc together too....

Wait, will this release include Kinto'un---! again? Are they serious? Are they going to put a piece that has never been used instead of one of the unreleased pieces that DID play in the real show? How sloppy they are... This strongly reminds me of goddamned M1018 on the DBZ soundtracks.

Six tracks, huh?

Eh, whatever. I'll pick it up anyway.

Hmm, Creature of Marvel ~Slow Version~... I wonder if that's what kenisu3000 calls Creature of Marvel (Bottom Layer). It's one of my favorite instrumentals and I was disappointed when it wasn't included on OST III, except as the faster techno version.

With the traklist, would this be a complete BGM? Volumes 1,2, and 3 together?

For the most part, yes.

However, none of the vocal themes and synth versions of image/insert songs appear to be included.

Also, some instrumental tracks appear to be missing:

-Destiny
-Desperate Situation
-Requiem ~To Those Who Meet Their End
-Presentiment

In their places (?), we have:

-Fate Of The Saiyans
-Goku's Desperate Situation
-To Those Who Meet Their End
-Premonition ~Dragon Ball Kai~

We also appear to have a couple new ones:

-Gohan's Awakening
-Creature Of Marvel ~Slow Version~

But, all of this was mentioned earlier, so I'll stop here. :P

I really have to wonder, though. As mentioned above, there are only two pieces that we know for sure are new ("Gohan's Awakening" and "Creature Of Marvel ~Slow Version~"). As for the remaining tracks...

- "Fate Of The Saiyans"
- "Goku's Desperate Situation"
- "To Those Who Meet Their End"
- "Premonition ~Dragon Ball Kai~"

... they all sound incredibly similar to the only four pieces that seem to be missing from the previous three soundtracks.

- "Destiny"
- "Desperate Situation"
- "Requiem ~To Those Who Meet Their End~"
- "Presentiment"

I'm guessing that Columbia doesn't care about the different "layers" of the music at all and that these "new" tracks are exactly the same as the corresponding ones on the old releases, just renamed. Yes, I know that everyone's probably already guessed that by now, but I mean, that's a strong possibility, right? I've seen other anime soundtracks re-use music while merely changing the title (Pocket Monsters has done it for their soundtracks, for example), so is there a chance that we're really only getting two new tracks, along with all of the original music from the previous three volumes (sans the TV-size opening/endings and vocal song instrumentals)?

To be honest, I'd actually prefer that. I mean, this release is already a flop for people hoping for new music, so I'm hoping for a release that just combines everything we've been given so far. That way, I can just purchase this set, along with the Complete Song Collection, and have pretty much everything released for Kai.

I will agree, though, that this is nothing less than a slap in the face to fans who have faithfully bought all the CDs so far and supported the series through all this uncertainty. This is certainly no reward to those fans.

After all these years..... F**k oooooooooooff Columbia!
Drooling over my collection !!!!!OF COMPLETE!!!!! Saint Seiya and Zeta Gundam OST's.
What the hell they are thinking at the marketing department for god's sake when most all of other industries
in the genre are giving us almost 100% fan service to get our money which they deserve for flawless product.
Columbia for it's history of soundtracks releasing deserves my crap on a dead canary.
When I will ever receive anything Dragon Ball which is flawless, if I don't count Japanese manga, which is probably the only thing perfect I ever bought
from this franchise (don't count action figures and toys).

That's what my guess is.

First off, unmei, the word used here, can mean both "destiny" and "fate". Basically, when I translated the tracklisting for OST 1, I should have used the latter. There is an alternate/stripped layer of "Destiny" that plays in one of the early episodes, so I'm guessing that's what "Fate Of The Saiyans" is.
See, that's the convention these people seem to adhere to when naming DragonBall Kai pieces: if it's an alternate, give it a similar-sounding name. When OST II came out, it introduced "Clouds Of War", which was a short alternate of "The Clouds Of War Spread".
This means that "Goku's Desperate Situation" is very likely the "Desperate Situation" alternate, "To Those Who Meet Their End" is probably the instrumental backing for "Requiem", and "Premonition" might have something to do with the recap theme ("Premonition Of A Grand Adventure"), or it might indeed be "Presentiment" (both track titles use the same word, yokan), though why it would have the series title tacked on to the end of it is beyond me - which is why I subscribe to the former theory.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.
