EDIT: Just checked Amazon. It doesn't say it's canceled, but the cover art appears to have been removed.

2nd EDIT: Come to think of it, Columbia's official site had OST 集 on their release schedule, and then yesterday, it just disappeared. I guess I should've mentioned that earlier. Sorry about that.

I know! I know! Maybe it's like before! Maybe they caught wind of fan outcry and decided to pull this tracklist in an attempt to get their stinking act together, and maybe they'll reveal a much more improved tracklist in a couple days!

Who am I kidding? Knowing them, they're planning to add a third disc repeating tracks that are already on discs 1 and 2, to bump up the price even further.

Either that, or they're replacing the listing YET AGAIN , for the same reason as before. That is, just to have the latest given title and information (y'know, now that the title is "Dragon Ball Kai Original Soundtrack 集", and that it doesn't actually have "over 40 unreleased tracks"). I really don't see why they can't just edit the entry they already have.

I attached the URL for CDJapan's Dragon Ball CD list to my signature to moniter it and see if a new listing pops up.

Y'know, after giving it some thought for these past few days, I've come to wonder if Columbia could've been second-guessing the marketability of "OST 集". I mean, do the Japanese audience even like Kai's score? And supposing at least some of them do, they most likely already bought the first three OST volumes, right? Is there even a market for 76 track CD that only has, at best, 6 new tracks while the rest are just rehashed?

Of course, Dragon Ball merchandise in general isn't doing so well these days, so it would make sense if the companies are just giving up, since they're making far less money from the franchise than they used to.

There's a profit to be made. The music is already there. They have material to make a product for free. If they print 100 discs and 100 people bought it, they made a profit.

That's why I find it quite joyous news that they're using Kikuchi's score now. If they're going to pull Yamamoto's soundtrack CDs from the market, knowing how greedy they had gotten in milking the CDs, they're probably going to want a new source of income to replace the Kai OSTs. And naturally, Kikuchi's score will very likely be the first thing they turn to. I'm really hoping for the best here.

All this talk about the possibility of a 100% complete release of the Dragon Ball and Z soundtrack REALLY makes me want to beg Columbia Records for a 100% complete release of the Tosho Daimos soundtrack (IMO, one of Kikuchi's best works).
